Easter’s animal mascot is a fuzzy bunny rabbit, but Nike Basketball wants you thinking of Lions, Durantulas and Poison Dart Frogs. Joining the LeBron 9 Low and Zoom KD IV with black and Mint Candy palettes to celebrate Easter with a new twist on springtime pastels is the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Poison Dart Frog’, the first of three such amphibian-inspired ZK7s that will arrive over the course of the second quarter. This one is set for an April 6th release date for a guaranteed Good Friday at retailers like Millennium Shoes, and you can see a new set of images after the jump below.

It’s become increasingly common to see high profile releases previewed in their GS form, but when grade school Nike Zoom Kobe VIIs come down the pike, they’re usually a kids-only colorway like the black, purple and pink pair that dropped earlier this year. But that doesn’t mean that the Black Mamba doesn’t provide for all his little snakelets out there, this Zoom Kobe 7 ‘Poison Dart Frog’ in its Mint Candy-accented Easter edition evidence of a hotly anticipated mens style porting over to smller feet. Check them out in greater detail after the jump and find yours three weeks ahead of the full sizes at Social Status.

After a February bookended by Black History Month and NBA All-Star celebrations, Nike Basketball took a step back in March, offering the sneakerhead community a chance to catch our breaths and reload for the spring. Coming up next month, the focus early on will be on the Easter holiday and its familiar pastel tones, the 2012 lineup of which focuses its attention on the soft green Mint Candy shade. It provides much of the upper on the Zoom KD IV and plenty of accents on the LeBron 9 Low, but neither of those can match the intensity and unique approach to its use on this Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Poison Dart Frog’ design. Their otherwise black design makes for a delicious mint chocolate chip look that warns of a deadly competitive spirit, and you can see more images after the jump below. via ahliang119 on Kenlu

The aposematic patterns that give the poison dart frog its signature appeal is what deems the attractive creature as one of the most dangerous in the wild. It’s these types of wildlife patterns that make the Nike Zoom Kobe VII one of the most unique sneakers ever designed, and although the use of graphic patterns on a Nike sneaker was done as early as the 70′s, none have done it such a distinct method like the Nike Zoom Kobe VII. The first leg of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Poison Dart Frog’ Pack is the Mint Candy/Black colorway, which is also specific to the Easter holiday as it drops alongside a similarly colored KD IV and LeBron 9 Low. We’ve got a first detailed look at this April 6th release after the jump, so give it a good look and be careful not to get too close! via SA
