Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Away’

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to improve their position heading into the NBA Playoffs, currently sitting at third place in the Western Conference with about twenty games remaining. That means the Lakers are now firmly on track to host at least the first of their playoff series, a fact that might limit the playing time for this Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Away’ colorup. This black-based colorway adds a golden Swoosh to its severely snake-scaled uppers, the kind of premium elegance that’s befitting the reworked carbon fiber heel counter (a texture echoed on the new Elite Series packaging). Check these out in a set of new images after the jump and let us know how far (into June) you think these can carry Kobe and co. via SA

Nike Basketball’s Elite Series sets a new gold standard for the industry, applying the best materials and luxurious colorways to the latest generation of their world-beating performance machines.  The Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite might be the best of them all, because the moment you lay eyes upon this elegant white, black and gold design, you’re met with the realization that this could be the one that Kobe’s wearing when he matches Michael Jordan with six NBA Championship rings.  That kind of winning pedigree paired with top-notch technology and dignified good looks has these arriving late next month with a $200 MSRP.  Your challenge, now, is not in determining whether you’ll get a pair of Zoom Kobe 7 Elites, but rather, choosing if it’ll be the black ‘away’ edition or this ‘home’ pair you can see in greater detail after the jump (and what about the equally sick LeBron 9s and Hyperdunk 2011s?!).  Let us know where these rank amongst their Elite brethren and stick with Sneaker News for updates on this April 28th release.  via Taobao

kobe vii elite home away 19 Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite Officially Unveiled

Nike Basketball has officially unveiled the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite in the Home and Away colorways, sitting side-by-side above. While Sneaker News first broke the news on both the Home and Away versions of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite (and the LeBron 9 Elite Home, the LeBron 9 Elite Away, the Hyperdunk 2011 Elite Home…you get the point), this detailed look gives us a great view of what makes this shoe an ‘Elite’ model. Just like the LeBron 9 Elite and Hyperdunk 2011 Elite, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite is given a structural boost with carbon fiber heel counters and mid-foot shank plates and displayed so elegantly with the golden details on the Swoosh, Kobe shozoku logo, and Flywire embedded beneath the newly-designed snakeskin upper. Arriving at Nike Basketball retailers this April 28th and debuting on Kobe Bryant’s feet in the 2012 NBA Playoffs, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite will break records as the highest priced and highest performing Kobe shoe in history. Now that you’ve seen the entire Elite Collection, let us know which is your favorite of the bunch, and stick with Sneaker News as we will update you on all information relevant to the Elite Series.

Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite – Black – Metallic Gold | Detailed Images

nike zoom kobe vii elite away 12 Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite Black Metallic Gold | Detailed Images

For the last three years, Eric Avar and Kobe Bryant have defied the conventions of the basketball footwear design and put forth one of the most unique spans of signature sneaker history – a low-cut, performance shoe designed after soccer, but made for basketball. Strengthened by tensile Flywire fibers,  stabilized by proper outriggers, and cushioned with Zoom Air, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII was the perfect technical basketball shoe with an imperfect design. No visible ankle support and a curb weight rivaling that of a long-distance running sneaker was one of the more questionable features in the Zoom Kobe V, but since then, any doubts have been wiped out as the Zoom Kobe V, VI, and VII have become on of the most depended-upon and widely utilized performance basketball shoes in history. Taking things a step further, Nike Basketball will debut an ‘Elite’ edition of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII – just think of the base-model of the Zoom Kobe VII as a luxury car, and the Elite as a fully-loaded package complete with visual and mechanical upgrades. The Elite ride gives you the unparalleled comfort of Full-length Zoom, the fearless stability of a carbon-fiber heel counter, and a re-constituted snakeskin upper composed of hexagonal scales, allowing you to look, feel, and perform great like never before. Check out this detailed gallery of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite in the ‘Away’ colorway and let us know if you like these better than the ‘Home’ after you compare both.

Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Home’

March 8th, 2012 by | 25 comments

Perhaps Nike’s referencing the fact that a 5-seed in the West will result in a road game-heavy playoff bracket for the Lakers this year with the gold-accented, otherwise blacked-out Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elites.  The only colorway we’d seen to date, this ultra-premium postseason design must surely be complimented by something for home games and those familiar yellow jerseys.  And just like clockwork, here’s the Zoom Kobe 7 Elite ‘Home’, another one of the still growing mass of white and/or black designs in early 2012.  This pair retains the Away’s golden hits but opts for a different blocking pattern and begs several questions:  Which one do you like best?  Do you wish Nike Basketball would have included more purple in these designs?  Discuss when you click through to have a closer look and stick with Sneaker News for the Zoom Kobe VII Elite updates, and look for a release on May 12th.

Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Away’ – Release Date

March 7th, 2012 by | 27 comments

nike zoom kobe vii elite new photos 6 Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite Away Release Date

If you’ve been keeping up with Lakers basketball post-All Star Weekend, you’d notice that Kobe’s shoes aren’t the only thing that’s transforming. After fracturing his nose at the hands of rival Dwyane Wade (although, Kobe wouldn’t say Wade is a rival), the Black Mamba was forced to wear a protective mask during games as a preventative measure, and even three games in, it seems that Kobe hasn’t found a mask that fits him just right, because just last night, Kobe sported a new face-mask – an unintentional ‘Away’ black mask that made him appear less like a basketball player and more like Kato from the Green Hornet series.

While Kobe is now on ‘Attask Masked’ mode, we’ll have to wait a little longer until the official debut of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite, which features full-length Zoom Air, carbon fiber heel counters, and a retrograde design element in the snake-skin upper. A look at the new box also reveals a slide-out construction in a newly detailed exterior, featuring carbon fiber print and gold detailing. We’ll have some more detailed images for you soon, but check out these new images below and keep in mind the April 20th debut of the Elite. via hoopchina
