Despite the moniker, this new Nike Zoom Kobe VII won’t help you blend in with your surroundings at all. Quite the opposite in fact, as the color changing upper is sure to break a few necks. That’s right, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Invisibility Cloak’ slides across a range of shades depending on the angle you look at them from, giving the Black Mamba an extra tool in his arsenal. And while they don’t bear the back emblem of any specific animal like other Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Predator Pack’ releases, it’s to hard to imagine why Nike passed up on the easy chameleon tie-in. Hit the jump for some new shots of this slick new Kobe colorway, which is hitting in the US on February 18th but will be available tomorrow, the 17th at Titan out in the Phillipines. via SM

The Nike Zoom Kobe V of 2009/2010 proved to be one of the most ‘collectible’ Nike Basketball shoes ever, releasing in memorable themes like the ‘Bruce Lee‘ and the opposing ‘Chaos’ and ‘Dark Knight’ renditions. The Kobe VI kept the pace going with the electrifying ‘Grinch/Green Mamba’ colorway and the trio LA Pack, setting up the platform for Kobe’s MVP performance at the 2011 NBA All-Star Game. The Nike Zoom Kobe VII was a bit of a curveball, as it released first in a pricey Supreme version, introduced to the world on Christmas Day when the NBA Season officially kicked off. The following versions of the ‘Predator Pack’ was previewed with a release schedule already set, but earlier this month, we were hit with a dazzling new colorway that we definitely did not see coming (no pun intended). Dubbed the ‘Invisibility Cloak’, this upcoming Kobe VII release features a Chameleon-esque ability to change colors in different lightning, but ironically stands out even more due to the gorgeous Turquoise-to-Purple iridescence. Do these have the potential to grow a legend like the Grinch or the Bruce Lee? Check out the detailed gallery of the ‘Invisibility Cloak’ below and stay tuned for a release this Saturday, as they will release at select Nike Basketball retailers like House of Hoops.

nike zoom kobe vii invisibility cloak release date Nike Zoom Kobe VII Invisibility Cloak Release Date

The Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Invisibility Cloak’ has begun to reveal itself to us today, as we now have an official U.S. release date for this high-energy release. In two Saturdays, February 18th, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII in Black, Court Purple, and Turquoise Blue will officially hit select Nike Basketball retailers at $140, making these a non-Supreme release (of course, the insoles are interchangeable if you have a pair of Supremes handy). The key-note detail of the Cloaks is the iridescent effect of the upper, which changes from purple to turquoise as you alter your viewing angle. The tongue and heel also feature a honey-comb patterned texture similar to Nike Training’s Pro Combat gear. Let us know if these are a must-have for you and be sure to circle February 18th on your calendars.

Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Invisibility Cloak’

The heart and soul of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII centers on the shoe’s ability to adapt, and what better than this new colorway of the shoe, dubbed the ‘Invisibility Cloak’? While the magical garment made famous by the Harry Potter series is fictional, the Kobe version is a reality (although it won’t make your feet invisible). The special power held by this sick new Kobe VII colorway is that it changes from a cool turquoise blue to a rich dark purple when viewed at different angles, giving the upper a Chameleon-like appearance. The hot pink insoles and logo provide a nice touch of contrast, as does the white swoosh. These have already released at select spots in Asia, but if these ever do hit the States, you know Sneaker News will keep you updated. Check out the gallery of the ‘Invisibility Cloak’ after the jump and let us know what you think. via carter-15
