You might expect that comedian Aziz Ansari would have picked up something about basketball given the title of his popular NBC sitcom, but he hasn’t showed up at enough celebrity all-star games to warrant serious consideration as among the best entertainment industry ballers. But as far as Aziz is concerned, Kobe Bryant could just as easily extend his spotlight-stealing dominance from the hardwood to the stage at a comedy club. A white shoe with black and Concord accents was the biggest release of last month (last year?); can this regal trio pull off a back-to-back run to the top courtesy of the player who’s arguably closest to this generation’s Michael Jordan? Earlier tonight, Nike brought us an official introduction to the Chinese Zodiac-inspired ‘Year of the Dragon’ Collection, featuring a number of special edition versions of some of Nike/Jordan Brand’s biggest names in signature kicks. Among the selected few is the Zoom Kobe VII, previewed several times in the past few weeks. Inspired by a combination of Kung-Fu and Kobe’s early childhood days in Italy, the shoe sports an eye catching red/green/yellow color scheme, complete with dragon graphics and the System Supreme insole options. As you can see, the retail version features a yellow dragon on the heel, as opposed to the tonal sample version seen last week, but most other aspects of the look seem to match up. You can check out some detailed shots of the shoe and inserts after the jump, and check back for a release date, as these are expected to be on the way to retail sooner rather than later.

The NBA Feet features on Sneaker News had to take a bit of an extended break due to the lockout, but it returned with a bang on Christmas Day when ten NBA teams battled it out to open the 2011-12 season. On the day after Christmas, the rest of the league partook in the opening days of the season as twelve high-octane match-ups provided enough basketball for fans who have been craving the sport. To recap yesterday night’s games: The Los Angeles Lakers fell to 0-2 as Kobe Bryant wore the Black/Del Sol colorway of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII System Supreme. The Washington Wizards made some noise as Reebok’s marquee athlete John Wall sported some fresh new Zig Encores, while teammate Jordan Crawford broke out the Air Jordan VII ‘Bordeaux’. Paul George of the Indiana Pacers rocked the Concord XIs, while teammate George Hill, who has shown a liking to Nike LeBron comfort, wore the original Zoom LeBron Soldier. The most interesting detail of the last couple of days was Jason Kidd’s apparent reconnection with Nike, as he was spotted wearing the Zoom Uptempo V and the Zoom Brave V.
