We’re still nearly three weeks away from the official holiday, but Wednesday is as close to Chinese New Year 2012 as we’ve gotten so far. It started early yesterday when we got our first look at the Nike/Jordan Brand Year of the Dragon collection, which served as a springboard for the official unveiling of both the Nike Kobe VII System Supreme and Air Jordan 2012 YOTD colorways into the evening. These two couldn’t look more different, and yet they both resonate with the vibe of a Water Dragon in their own way, just as the same is true of their counterparts in the pack, a new Zoom KD IV and Air Force 1 Low. Each of these is replete with dragon detailing, which starts with the notion that the mythical creature rises from four seas with New Year’s wishes, and you can get the lowdown on the entire set when you click on the jump below.

Earlier tonight, Nike brought us an official introduction to the Chinese Zodiac-inspired ‘Year of the Dragon’ Collection, featuring a number of special edition versions of some of Nike/Jordan Brand’s biggest names in signature kicks. Among the selected few is the Zoom Kobe VII, previewed several times in the past few weeks. Inspired by a combination of Kung-Fu and Kobe’s early childhood days in Italy, the shoe sports an eye catching red/green/yellow color scheme, complete with dragon graphics and the System Supreme insole options. As you can see, the retail version features a yellow dragon on the heel, as opposed to the tonal sample version seen last week, but most other aspects of the look seem to match up. You can check out some detailed shots of the shoe and inserts after the jump, and check back for a release date, as these are expected to be on the way to retail sooner rather than later.
