NIKE ZOOM KOBE VII The Nike Zoom Kobe VII is the seventh sneaker in the Nike Kobe signature line. It was designed by Eric Avar and released in three versions – the Kobe VII ($140) , Kobe VII Supreme ($180), and the Kobe VII Elite ($200). The Christmas/Leopard colorway was the first Kobe VII to release.

In an unprecedented footwear decision, Kobe Bryant reverted back to the non-Elite Kobe VII for Game 2 of the Lakers/Nuggets series, wearing a ‘Supreme’ PE colorway of purple and white. Turns out you can build your own Game 2 PE on Nike iD, and Kobe might be better off breaking ‘em out again because he had his best game of the entire Series wearing these Supremes (dropped 38 on an above-50% clip). Will Kobe Bryant and the Lakers seal the deal against the Nuggets in Game 6? Check out the additional angles below and let us know what you think.

Our features on custom sneakers have placed a worthy spotlight on a few artistic individuals who have displayed their handiwork in their sick custom works. Among the ‘elite’ group of customizers is Jason Negron, one individual who has mastered and manipulated the Foamposite as if it were an extension of his own being, but his latest work is a ‘curveball’ of sorts as he makes an attempt at a Kobe custom inspired by one of the most popular Zoom Kobes in history. Here’s a look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Grinch’ Custom; using this season’s ‘Christmas’ join as the base, Jason repainted almost the entire shoe, going full tonal neon volt on the upper and, in a nutshell, reconstituting the Grinch colorway on the heel, outsole, the laces, and the Swoosh. The cherry on top is the snake wrapping itself around the Kobe Shozoku logo. No sole-swapping here, but a solid customization on a shoe that is certainly difficult to manipulate due to the finicky snakeskin upper material. We’ve got a detailed look at Jason Negron’s custom Grinch below so take a look and check him out on his Sole Swap Facebook Page or Instagram to follow his work.

When images of this Blue/Red Kobe VII Poison Dart Frog first dropped, a quick moniker of ‘Spiderman’ popped up among forums, but it’s clear that any sort of Spiderman nickname will have be squashed like a bug because the shade of red seen here is Team Orange, which is a bloody shade of orange that, apparently, in some light, appears like a bright red. Perhaps the shade will look more truer to Team Orange in a duller light, but this isn’t the first time a set of pictures played tricks on your eyes, right (Metallic Pewter Foamposites, for one)? We’ve got some additional angles below so take a look and let us know if this ‘Team Orange’ colorway is the best of the Poison Dart Frog bunch. Photos: hoopcity

Is this Kobe Bryant’s final run at a title? Does he have it in him to capture his sixth ring? The Laker faithful is certainly pulling for the Black Mamba, who, despite going through some personal troubles over the season, put up a solid season and almost won another Scoring Title (he dropped 38 on the Nuggets on Monday). Tomorrow, the second installment of the Poison Dart Frog Series will become available at Nike Basketball retailers, and of the three PDF releases, these are obviously the most Laker-centric as it adopts the Gold/Purple onto the wild pattern on the upper. Catch these frogs tomorrow at Nike Basketball retailers, or get ‘em now from yellownxst on eBay.

Most sneakerheads know that Kobe Bryant was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996 after foregoing a scholarship to Duke University thanks to annual ‘What if?’ colorways. Here’s another we can add to that list, going even more hypothetical to imagine what might have happened had Kobe been born just a couple years earlier. Either that, or had Michigan won an NCAA championship with the Fab Five, The Lil Mamba might have ended up in Ann Arbor in a look similar to this new Nike Zoom Kobe VII. The combination of a dark upper plus yellow accents and a white sole might make you squint from afar if you’re expecting purple, because this pair’s navy blue Flywire shell is so close to and yet so far from the Lakers’ traditional colors. There’s also a unique heel icon that may be tied in with an upcoming WBF event or perhaps something related to the Olympic summer; stay tuned for more details. Check out this new Kobe 7 after the jump, let us know where these stand amongst the ZK7 crowd and stick with Sneaker News for release info. Photos: SA

Is the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite Series and its accompanying $200 price-tag too rich for your blood? While Kobe has graduated from the ‘System’ to Elite, there are still more ‘System’ releases to be had, like this Saturday’s drop of the Poison Dart Frog in the ‘Lakers’ colorway and this upcoming Concord/White-Cool Grey-Del Sol release. We’ve previewed this colorway before, but with a firm release date now set at May 19th, are these a must-have for you? Of course, these are likely not the final Kobe VII release, as the Kobe line typically spills over deep into the Fall months leading up to the launch, which typically occurs in December. More shots of this upcoming colorway below, so take a look and circle your calendars for May 19th.

Don’t look now, but Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are up 2-0 in their series with the Denver Nuggets, and could meet the San Antonio Spurs in the second round – familiar fighting grounds for these two franchises. For Game 2, Kobe Bryant switched from ‘Elite’ to ‘System’ as he dropped 38 nuggets on the Nuggets while wearing a Purple/White PE colorway of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Supreme. As the Lakers now take the short flight to Denver for Game 3, we should expect to see the Mamba wear the Black/Purple PE of the Zoom Kobe VII Elite (the Gold issues are against league regulations), so we’ll keep you in tune with that. More on Kobe’s Game 2 PE below, so take a look and if you like ‘em, you can actually build your own on Nike iD! Photos: espn

Kobe often goes to his Fade Option for his jumper in games, but if we’re talking about his shoes, we’re pointing at the sick gradient selection for the Kobe iD shoes that just became available. It was first introduced with the Nike Zoom Kobe IV, and since then, the gradient fade option has been one of the more popular customizable options in the following signature models, and as we get a look at some completed samples of the Kobe VII iD Fade Options, it’s clear we have another winner in our hands. Check out the samples below and head to Nike iD to get your own.
