The name of Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant has been a recurring headline over the last month, hasn’t it? His $50k wager against 2011-12 ROY Kyrie Irving, his claim that the 2012 USA Team would beat the ’92 Dream Team, and his recent response to Commissioner David Stern’s proposed age-limit for the Olympic Games has the Black Mamba at the center of sports headlines, but he’s been a trending topic on Sneaker News as well thanks to the exciting Kobe VII releases like the upcoming ‘Cheetah’. We have first detailed look at this feral colorway (first spotted months ago when Kobe and designer Eric Avar sat down to chat sneakers), and we don’t doubt how popular these will be (especially if you missed out on the What The Kobe?). Flip through the gallery below and we’ll keep you updated on a firm release date. Photos: soleawesome

If you thought that the “What the Kobe” would be a grand finale of sorts for the wild Kobe VII colorways, we’re happy to report that there’s some more Black Mamba heat on the way this summer. Here’s an exclusive first look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘FCB’ Pack – a duet of Kobe VII colorways inspired by two of Spanish soccer club, FC Barcelona’s kits. While Barcelona is best recognized for its bold-striped blue and red, the club’s got a plethora of other representative colors in its past like the Yellow/Blue and Aqua Blue/Orange (remember Kobe wore these last month), which can be seen both as primary colors as well as accent pieces on its more recent threads. Both Zoom Kobe VII ‘FC Barcelona’ releases featured the FCB crest emblazoned on the inner face of the tongue as well.
Kobe Bryant’s love for international football sprouted from his childhood roots in Italy, but it was Ronaldinho, one of the sports’ biggest stars, that got Kobe to root for Barcelona and become enamored with the club’s rich history and storied success. Much like last year’s Kobe VI Barcelona releases, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Barcelona’ duo will be a Euro-exclusive at select Nike and House of Hoops retailers, with this year’s version arriving across the pond on July 21st. Stay locked in on Sneaker News for more pics of the Zoom Kobe VII “Barcelona” Pack coming soon and if you’ve got some Euro-connections, it’s time to make those calls.

In 2007, Nike Skateboarding introduced the multi-Dunk mosaic concept to the ‘What The Dunk’, which featured bits and pieces of the greatest Nike SB Dunk Low releases of all time. The What The Kobe? adopts the same idea, keeping the design limited to VII options, but clearly there was plenty to go around; Leopard, Dart Frog, Cheetah, Mamba – you name it, it’s on there. Could these rival the ‘What The Dunks’ as one of the wildest sneaker releases of all-time? These will hit select Nike retailers tomorrow so if you’re worried about missing out, secure a pair right now from tw-sneakersoul on eBay.

Makes total sense that Nike Vault, located inside Kobe Bryant’s castle known as the Staples Center, would get all the special Kobe-centric releases. For tomorrow (when the What the Kobe? officially releases), Nike Vault will release a limited-edition What the Kobe? Pack which features the shoes and a matching set of What the Kobe? socks with a sick Nike Vault x WTK logo on upper tube of socks. These will be given out on a first-come first-served basis so you’d better not slack on this releases because you’ll be muttering What the (another four-letter word) after these disappear quickly from stores shelves. Another view of the socks below, so take a look and let us know if this is the best Kobe release of the year!

This past weekend Sneaker News hit you with a cluster of important release dates – one of which was the multi-Kobe mash-up known as the ‘What The Kobe?’. If you missed out on the that, we’d like to reiterate the July 7th release date (two Saturdays from today), but with so much anticipation and energy surrounding this release, getting a pair on hand will prove to be rather difficult. On the level of Yeezy 2s or Galaxy Foam? Probably not, but don’t expect these to sit around for that long. If you’re ready to have ‘em on your feet now or at least would like to ensure your pair in your collection, you’re in luck: a few sizes have just become available from el_store on eBay.

Amongst all the animals gathered together on the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘What the Kobe’ there’s one that didn’t make the cut, with the accompanying sneaker not releasing till after that wild pair hits retail. The colorway and animal in question is the ‘Cheetah’, a spotted release that should have back to school crowds clamoring with its late August due date. Stay with us after the jump for an updated look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Cheetah’ and let us know where they rank amongst the zoo of Nike Zoom Kobe VII’s already out there. Photos: Hoop City
