The clock continues to tick on Kobe Bryant’s latest signature sneaker, with a Christmas release pretty much confirming that the sneakers will arrive in some form or another before the year’s end. Another pair that we can expect in the mix somewhere is this, the Nike Zoom Kobe VIII in blue and purple. The colorway could mean a few different things in terms of inspiration-perhaps reviving the ‘Draft Day’ theme that alludes to the initial selection of Kobe by the Hornets or perhaps serving as a tribute to the Minneapolis Lakers of old. Click through for a full look and tell us what you think of this new Kobe VIII colorway in the comments.

Each of the Nike Zoom Kobe VIIIs we’ve seen thus far has displayed a degree of graphical complexity, but none of them shows off the eighth Kobe Bryant Nike Basketball signature’s potential for room-stopping design like the rainbow mixture pictured above. Just about any of the Black Mamba’s sigs would make a perfect complement for 2013′s Year of the Snake celebration, but instead it looks like these multicolored Kobe 8s are a festive rendition for Christmas Day that we can expect to see against the Knicks on ABC. The high-energy design is going to look spectacular contrasting the Lakers’ snow white xmas unis, so have a closer look below and stick with Sneaker News for the release date.

Things are looking up for the Los Angeles Lakers since they shook things up with an unexpected name as their new head coach, and soon their on-court leader will have a nice burst of momentum from a brand new signature release. This new Nike Zoom Kobe VIII is the most complete Lakers colorway we’ve seen to date (unless you count the ‘Scales’ multicolor design that could accommodate just about every team in the league). They appear poised for away games with the black midsole, heel and tongue area and prove that even the less conceptually driven ZK8s offer some serious state-of-the-art complexity. Let us know what you think about the evolution of the Zoom Kobe series’ textures and graphics over the past few years and stick with Sneaker News for all the Zoom Kobe 8 release dates.

Some new looks are in store for Kobe Bryant – first with new coach Mike D’Antoni now running the team, and later on a new pair of kicks donning his iconic signature. We recently showed you a nice detailed gallery of all the Kobe VIII innards, revealing a LunarLon insole, a possible ‘System’ approach. and a unique tongue construction that reduces weight. Yesterday’s update of the Kobe VIII in the Black/Yellow colorway provided a clear view of the outer shell of the Kobe VIII, but what Eric Avar has focused on is the inner workings of the shoe that has made it one of the most popular and oft-used basketball sneakers in history. We’ll start with the tongue, which showcases the mamba snake encapsulating the Shozoku logo above calculated perforations to make the shoe as light as possible. The insole is what reveals the most; it’s built with LunarLon, giving the Kobe VIII an unprecedented bouncy cushion that Lunar has never failed to produce, and the indented markings like the System logo on the bottom may point to a return of the interchangeable ‘Fast’ and ‘Strong’ arrangement. There’s plenty more to see so enjoy this detailed gallery of the Kobe VIII below and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for all updates regarding the upcoming launch of the Kobe VIII.

For the most part, the Zoom Kobe line has been very traditional in terms of the location of the Swoosh. From the IV to the upcoming VIII, the Kobe signature line has presented the Swoosh right in the middle of the upper (the II and III progressively pushed it back to the heel), but a first look at the medial side of the shoe reveals the Swoosh sitting right at the ankle collar, revealing the specifically-engineered mesh-like shell on the upper. While the complete details of the Kobe VIII are yet to be revealed, this multi-angle view should give you an even closer idea of the entire design as we near an official reveal/launch in late December/early January. Multiple angles are just ahead so take a look and give us your thoughts on the evolution of the low-top Kobe and if Nike Basketball should continue with this approach.
