Did you get some sneakers under the Christmas tree this year? We were probably all wishing for that to happen to some extent, and it looks as if NFL athlete Darrelle Revis had that wish come true. For better or worse, 2012 was a defining year for the sneaker world and all that it encompasses. It was a year that saw certain shoes throw the laws of supply and demand so out of whack, that brands and retailers had to completely rethink the way they sell shoes to the public just to keep the peace. If you were willing to put in some legwork or, better yet, had the right connections, it was a banner year for sneaker enthusiasts. “Must-have” releases seemed to be at an all-time high and nearly every weekend offered up some sort of temptation for consumers. 2012 saw the release of some of the most eagerly anticipated and passionately sought-after sneakers the game had ever seen and it’s safe to say that things will never be the same again.
In between those, there were plenty of other desirable targets along the way, from the special limited editions and collaborations to beloved Retro returns and promising new designs and innovations. There were even a few certified sleeper hits that organically carved out their place among the year’s best releases. Due to an exponentially expanding consumer base and a heightened level of product awareness, you might not have been able to get your hands on every shoe you hunted for in 2012, but there was certainly no shortage of solid alternatives ripe for the picking in their absence.

Black and red sneakers are doing double duty tomorrow, with this Nike Zoom Revis colorway no doubt having to play second fiddle to a certain extent to the Air Jordan XI that’s on everyone’s mind. Fortunately the combo is punchy enough to break a few necks as well thanks to the red included here being a bit of a brighter shade. Also you’ll notice that the general combo is the same as the recent Nike Air Trainer 1 created in Revis’ honor. Hit the jump to get the official Nikestore shots and look for them there on December 21st.

Readers in the middle of a Sneaker News-Deadspin venn diagram know thanks to ‘Bristolmetrics’ that Tim Tebow brought the New York Jets the most lopsided ratio of media attention to on-field productivity for any non-injured player in the history of sports. That experiment hasn’t proven fruitful, and along with key injuries like the one that put Darrelle Revis on IR have made the perennially contending New York Jets an afterthought even with a spotlight game tonight on ESPN. But even with all the chaos, the Jets have reason to feel optimistic for the future, not the least of which is the eventual return of the shutdown corner so skilled that he’s the only person in the world right now with not just PEs, but his very own Nike Training signature. The Nike Zoom Revis extends its presence with the latest proof that greys plus ice a la Air Jordan XI could be the most universally appealing sneaker palette ever created. Its subtle tones highlight an elegant technicality that you can wear with literally anything, and you’ll find them available at select retailers like Oneness.

The Nike Zoom Revis blasted off the line of scrimmage with an incredible debut with the ‘Jets’ colorway as well as the Black/Volt that soon followed, but if you’re waiting for some more colorways to hit stores, your patience is soon to be rewarded. This Black/White-Bright Crimson colorway is actually the first of the Revis joints that we previewed, and it looks like December 21st is the official release date for these bad boys. These have a bit more of a ‘lifestyle’ appeal with the synthetic leather upper, and with the ‘Camo’ version already previewed, we can already tell that the Zoom Revis has that versatility to hit lifestyle and sporty notes. Cop these on December 21st, or intercept this stray pair from baseballfanatic19 on eBay.

You already knew that LeBron James had his exclusive game proper when it came to Nike Basketball offerings, but who knew that he had the trainer category so locked down as well? This quick set of photos proves that he’s one of very few people to already have his hands on this upcoming Nike Zoom Revis colorway, that ‘Cool Grey’ looking version that we gave you a peek at yesterday. Any chance that we’ll see King James lacing them up on the court though? We’re sure that someone over at the Swoosh HQ would have a fit if he were to step out of his sig for an NBA match so you probably shouldn’t hold your breath on that. Continue reading for the rest of the photos and stay tuned for info on this Nike Zoom Revis.
