NIKE ZOOM ROOKIE LWP The Nike Zoom Rookie LWP is a hybrid design in Nike’s Air Penny line that first debuted in 2011, combining the silhouettes of the Nike Air Flight One and Nike Air Go LWP. The resulting sneaker has been one of the more celebrated new-era Foamposite releases.

After much indecision on Nike’s side of things, the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP in the famed ‘Galaxy’ composition has reached a concrete release date; after initiall reports of a September release, Nike later established an October 19th release before postponing the release indefinitely. We’re happy to report that Nike has officially disclosed the release date for what is potentially the last ‘Galaxy’ release of the year to be November 17th – one week from today. These are likely to be very limited so don’t sleep on these when the hit Nikestore and select NSW accounts on 8AM Saturday.

Yeah we know, you’re waiting for the ‘Galaxy’ version of the Nike Zoom Rookie to drop, so are we. In the meantime though you can pick up a pair that isn’t quite so loud-the varsity red shown here. The pair comes with an extra set of laces dipped in that tourmaline green, allowing for a very Christmas-y swap. Do you remember right around this time last year when the Nike Zoom Rookie was still getting its footing and it dropped in that black/max orange colorway? Adjusting the colors, and the release date to make them arrive on time for Halloween, is this latest Nike Zoom Rookie custom by AF1King. The pair puts on pumpkin colored pods as well as a glow in the dark look, the latter sliding through on the icy outsole and on the Swiss cheese holes of the upper. Pictured here is the most recent Nike Zoom Rookie custom to pop up, a pair that builds upon the glowing details established by the ‘Galaxy’ retail pair. From there it dons a spooky orange colorway and does the glow thing beyond just the pods, sporting some scary looking teeth down front to give it a jack-o-lantern feel. The Zoom Rookie will get a much-needed jolt of energy once the ‘Galaxy’ releases later this month, but how about a nice round of applause for this sick custom? Using the ‘Think Pink’/Pearlized Pink theme, sneaker customizer AF1King transforms the Dynamic Blue Zoom Rookies to this thoughtful rendition, adding reflective coating to the moon pods and attaching the inspirational pink ribbon as a hang-tag. AF1King will sell each pair for $550, but he’s doing the honorable thing by donating $100 from each sale to charity. With the ‘Galaxy Foamposite stirring up an incredible amount of attention around sneakers, many wondered what the next ‘Galaxy’ release would follow. Of course, the trio of Nike Basketball signatures for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game can’t be overlooked, but those didn’t capture the seemingly unlimited depth of outer space as it used the ‘galaxy’ print in a controlled and limited matter. The Zoom Rookie LWP, however, popped up in ‘Galaxy’ form (a black-pod version and a glow-pod version that was revealed to be a collab with SC), with NSW head honcho Gentry Humphrey confirming the release himself; a confirmed date of October 6th is being reported, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates as we near this release date.
