NIKE ZOOM ROOKIE LWP The Nike Zoom Rookie LWP is a hybrid design in Nike’s Air Penny line that first debuted in 2011, combining the silhouettes of the Nike Air Flight One and Nike Air Go LWP. The resulting sneaker has been one of the more celebrated new-era Foamposite releases.

What a way to end the first half of the NBA season! We’ve got a lot of NBA in-game sneaker sightings to catch up on, so let’s get to it. Starting off with last night’s much-anticipated match-up between the Knicks and the Heat, LeBron James was seen wearing the Nike LeBron 9 ‘BHM’ with the Black/White Alternate uniforms. In San Antonio, sneakerhead/small forward Kawhi Leonard rocked the White/Black Nike Zoom Rookie LWP after he wore the Air Jordan XIV ‘Chartreuse’ just days ago. The Nike Zoom Kobe VII iD has started to pop up more frequently, with great designs from Demar DeRozan, Nick Young, and Brandon Rush. Houston’s Kevin Martin jumped the gun by unofficially debuting the Air Jordan 2012 in the White/Black colorway (with the Red inner bootie, of course). Check out the rest of the NBA Feet action below and stick with Sneaker News over the All-Star Weekend as we will keep you up to date with all of the action! via ESPN

Earlier today we showed you a sick pair of customs sneakers done by Mache Customs – the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP ‘Galaxy’. Those were indeed on another level, but flying at the same altitude is this sick colorway of the Zoom Rookie that will hit stores tomorrow. First viewings of the ‘Dynamic Blue’ Zoom Rookie resulted in some positive remarks from our readers, and with the Zoom Rookie established as one of the best new releases put out by Nike, the Dynamic Blues will certainly be a big ticket item during tomorrow’s massive set of releases. Check out these new angles after the jump and don’t forget to cop ‘em tomorrow at select Nike Sportswear retailers or from sneakerpost on eBay.

Just yesterday Sneaker News provided the world with the first detailed look at the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’, showing off the glow-in-the-dark outsole and angles aplenty. The glow-in-the-dark theme will in fact run rampant through the 2012 All-Star Collection, but remember that the ‘glow’ craze first started with that sick Zoom Rookie release just a few months ago. Mache Customs, who has been breaking necks with his unforgettable creations, brings All-Star and Zoom Rookie together with his Zoom Rookie ‘Galaxy’ customs; what makes these so much more impressive is that the upper isn’t a mere paint-job, but the result of one of the best paintbrush-meets-sneaker crafts we’ve ever seen. Mache continues to raise the bar for other budding sneaker customizers and these Galaxy Rookies are a clear example why, so check out the additional images below and let us know if you think these are better than the Foamposite Ones!

Sure, some solitary sneaker releases like the recent Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ Retro and a few others have packed as much (or more) anticipation and frenzy, but we’re not sure if there’s ever been a date in sneaker history with so many high profile releases all dropping on the same day. Where do we start? How about the Dave White Air Jordan 1 which has been heavily previewed and eagerly awaited while sitting in limbo without a confirmed release date? Or maybe the Nike ‘Black History Month’ Collection featuring Nike Basketball’s three-headed signature model monster and an accompanying set of four NSW offerings? Still not cracking your wallet open? Perhaps the ‘Old Royal’ Air Jordan X will change your mind. Or with Valentine’s Day on the way, maybe it will be a pair of the ‘Voltage Cherry’ Air Jordan IV GS for the lady or little lady in your life. Last but not least is the ‘Dynamic Blue’ colorway of the popular Zoom Rookie LWP model which has thus far been absent from the 2012 release schedule until now.
Quite a crop indeed, and while there is no singular release in the eleven sneakers anywhere near Concord-ian magnitude, the sum of all these parts adds up to quite possibly the most action-packed release date we’ve ever seen and a lot of difficult decisions for sneakerheads everywhere. Oh yeah, and by the way, White/Cement Air Jordan IV’s drop next Saturday and the All-Star weekend batch at the end of the month may trump this week’s bonanza. Hottest month ever? Foot Locker thinks so. Time to smash open those piggy banks and gear up for month long release mayhem, all starting tonight at midnight on NikeStore and nationwide at brick and mortar retailers like Extra Butter. Let us know what you’ll be copping tomorrow night and stay tuned to Sneaker News for all the latest on the February heatwave.

While the Air Flight One is headed toward the stars via Orlando, the spectacular hybrid model that was most young sneakerheads’ first exposure to its signature pods is headed in the opposite direction. Given their history (first Shaq in ’96, then the ’09 Finals), you might think that’d be LA, but we’re actually talking about a colorway that always does well everywhere, any time of year. The Nike Zoom Rookie is ready to debut its ’Blackout’ colorup, a subtly stunning mix of Anthracite Foamposite, black nubuck and the ever-present translucent outsole. These have the unenviable task of following the aptly named ‘Dynamic Blue’ joints to retail, but there’s little cause for worry about betting on swift sales when these hit select Nike Sportswear retailers on March 3rd. via Kicks-crew

Penny Hardaway’s Memphis Blues, Memphis Express, and White/Silver PEs of the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP should provide a nice hint of what could possibly come in terms of future Zoom Rookie colorways. Simply put, the tonal package just works. We’ve yet to receive one in the uni-color make-up, but the March release of the Anthracite/Black seems to be the closest, but check out this Sample version of the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP in Anthracite, featuring a golden swoosh at the toe and along the stitched applique along the length of the tongue; Black and Gold has always been an unmistakeable combination, resulting in numerous classics like the original Defining Moments Package as well as the honorable Black History Month releases, so there’s no doubt that this Anthracite/Black with the acute golden touch would’ve been widely popular. We’ve got additional angles for you below, so take a look and let us know what you think. via diirtyvandal of NT.

Short, but sweet. That concise descriptive can be used to summarize the entire Nike Air Penny line, which is just four models deep (with the Air Foamposite One unofficially tagging along), but don’t think for a second that it’s size is directly proportional to its significance. After the Air Jordan, the Air Penny is the most celebrated signature footwear line of the pre-Kobe/LeBron era, and new developments like the Air 1/2 Cent, Zoom Rookie LWP, and resurgence of the Air Foamposite One are reasons why it maintains that aura of supremacy today. Sole Collector recently completed a nice interview with Penny Hardaway, providing a quick glimpse of the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP ‘Eggplant’ that we showed you as far back as September. No word on a release yet, so check out the extra angle below and let us know what you think.

The Nike Zoom Rookie LWP features the kind of bold lines and eye-catching materials that make it anything but ordinary, so what happens when you apply one of the most basic colorways possible? Turns out, a ‘Blackout’ Zoom Rookie does nothing to diminish this Nike Sportswear hybrid from breaking necks, and they might even be more impactful in a sense because of the relatively unexpected way the Foamposite sections jump out at you under the right lighting. We’ve already seen two different white/black colorways released to great commercial success, and with the popularity of both Foamposite and Air Penny retros in recent years, there’s little doubt this one will be similarly well accepted. Click through and take a closer look, let us know where these rank against the other Zoom Rookie LWP releases and stick with Sneaker News for this pair’s US release date. via in52
