Sneaker News just scooped you on the December 21st release date for the white/black colorway, which means that’s almost certainly the final Nike Zoom Rookie LWP drop of 2011. So while we’re waiting for days to get longer after the winter solstice, we’ll also be eagerly awaiting the arrival of yet more brightness in the form of the ‘Dynamic Blue’ Zoom Rookies. This palette has a frosty appearance that’d be perfect any time during the winter season, though their vibrant primary color is also the kind of thing you’d expect to see during the hottest summer days. So you’re looking now at one of those shoes that you can not only keep in your rotation, but one that’ll continue to break necks even as they age. Halloween in mid-November? Anything’s possible at Foot Locker’s House of Hoops, where a concept catering to hardcore basketball fans and sneakerheads has now expanded to most of the largest US cities. The latest HoH exclusive will have you remembering all the fun you had dressing up in costumes in late October, this new black and Max Orange Nike Zoom Rookie about as close as the Air Penny super-hybrid can get to a jack-o-lantern. They’ll light up the morning as malls across the country open when “Kicksmas comes early” to all House of Hoops locations right around the time the early bird lap-walking crew calls it a day.

The Nike Air Penny series was all about its signature shades of blue, from Varsity Royal to Atlantic Blue and even the rarely seen Dark Neon Royal. Nike Sportswear also sought to raise the profile on the relatively new Binary Blue shade by adding it to one of the upcoming Nike Zoom Rookie LWPs, but this is the first time a wholly new shade has been launched for NSW’s latest basketball-based hybrid. The Dynamic Blue hue at work on the Foamposite sections of this new Zoom Rookie is aptly named, a high energy shade that combined with Wolf Grey accents and a translucent outsole makes for an intensely crisp final product that could be the model’s best GR yet. The Nike Zoom Rookie LWP had some big shoes to fill, following the immense success of the Air 1/2 Cent and the legendary yet short-lived Air Penny line. Nike designer Marc Dolce recently discussed the design inspiration and detailing behind the Zoom Rookie LWP, which launched the first release in the ‘Glow In The Dark’ colorway last week. Combining elements of the Air Penny line like Foamposite, a carbon-fiber shank plate, and inner bootie fit, the Zoom Rookie LWP is as much of a performance shoe as it is a Lifestyle sneaker, so it’s only a matter of time before we see these on the feet on an NBA player (Gilbert Arenas, perhaps?). Upon its revelation this morning, the ‘Dynamic Blue’ Nike Zoom Rookie LWP instantly staked its claim for best Magic-style colorway from this model’s rapidly expanding repertoire, but we can’t forget about the above pictured edition that helped us get familiar with what could be Nike Sportswear’s finest hybrid to date. The ’Binary Blue’ Zoom Rookie is a few shades darker than all the rest and are probably closest to the Dark Neon Royal OG Air Foamposite One whose groundbreaking material plays a major role on the LWP. Can there be too many Orlando Magic-leaning colorways for the Nike Zoom Rookie? Judging solely on the quality of each and every such pair to this point, the answer is a clear ‘no’, but whether Air Penny fans will be able to afford collecting all of these pairs remains a question. The latest revelation comes in a brand new color, the ‘Dynamic Blue’ Zoom Rookie LWP adding Wolf Grey on the non-Foamposite elements to create what might be the crispest pair this side of the various white models. Face it: you’re probably never going to get your hands on a pair of Nike Zoom Rookies in the ‘Memphis Blues’ colorway that appears to be a Penny Hardaway exclusive. And if you missed out on the event this past weekend at Nike Las Vegas where Anfernee was on hand for the release of his Nike Sportswear Signature Pack, chances are it’s going to be tough to get one for anything approaching the retail price. But luckily for those on the outside looking in at that dope wooden crate, Nike Sportswear will release an Orlando colorway of White/Royal/Silver, similar to the ‘Las Vegas’ Zoom Rookie that’s perhaps closer to the original colorways found on the Air Penny series than any of the other shoes in that quintet. These are a shining example of what good hybrid design can be and although a release date hasn’t been confirmed for these just yet, get your hands on a pair early from 2ballintwn3 on eBay.

Is it even possible that another pair of Nike Zoom Rookie LWPs could have stolen the show on a day when a sick Orlando ‘home’-styled colorway dropped among five all-new takes on Nike Sportswear’s Penny Hardaway greatest hits? That depends what you think of the brief glimpse of an all-blue Zoom Rookie worn by Anfernee himself during the release event of his special five-pack at Nike Las Vegas. This event featured our first look at all the new Air Foamposite Ones and Pros we showed you earlier today, and it looks like even more’s on the way for 2012 with a ‘Think Pink’ Foam One peeking through a case that’s been stuffed with about two grand of NSW’s foamy favorites.
