While their brick-and-mortar retail spot is closed at the moment, don’t expect the folks at Patta to discontinue their influence on urban lifestyle footwear and fashion. Just yesterday, Patta teased a collaboration with Converse for October 27th, and it’s just been revealed that it’s the Pro Leather, the 2012 darling for Converse heritage models. Arriving in both the High and Low build, Patta takes an earthy approach by building the uppers with sturdy Cordura nylon uppers in Tan and Green. The High features a solid dark-purple sole with purple/pink detailing on the interior and Patta tongue-label, while the Low pairs the green with a purple velour lining and purple/white tongue labels. October 27th is the release date for the Patta x Converse First String Pro Leather so give them a look below.

Patta x KangaROOS PxK Safari

Amsterdam sneaker stalwarts Pattaare currently without a storefront, but their dope collaborative designs ensure this brand will stay strong until another B&M location opens.  And that makes for an interesting time to be supporting an older brand itself looking to find a niche within the sneakerhead set, but the Patta x KangaROOS PxK Safari should boost everyone involved.  Despite the name, they make no reference to Nike Sportswear’s 25h anniverary Air Safari celebration, instead opting for a modernized plimsoll construction with muted twill colorways whose soft brown leather accents and white soles mean they’re versatile on the level of being a trio of ‘colorful greys’.  Have a closer look below, let us know which pair looks best and grab yours from the Patta e-store.

patta closes Patta Amsterdam Closes Its Doors

We’ve seen it happen before: an amazing sneaker store that served as a hub for all-things kicks and culture rises to global fame, only to see an end of a road too soon, too unexpected. Despite what history has taught us, this latest piece of news, however, is rather shocking; Patta has confirmed that its primary storefront in Amsterdam has closed shop. Just a couple of days ago, Patta‘s Masta Lee filled us in via blog post regarding the details of Patta’s rise to fame and decision to close this highly eventful chapter of the Patta book (you can read his entire blog post below). You can count on Team Patta to make more noise, hopefully with their untouchable collaborations, so we’ll keep you updated on their endeavors.

UPDATE: Patta has opened its doors in a new location. (February, 2013)

Either the recent Tennis Oxford collaboration was the biggest sleeper hit of 2012 or Patta and KangaROOS have been planning this new drop for a while now.  And to be fair, both options probably have some truth to them, though it’s easy to feel like something as vital as the Patta x KangaROOS PxK Voyage must have been created as a reflection of this very moment.  Featuring an eye-catching leaf pattern by Vincent van de Waal, round 3 of the PxK teamup will launch in Berlin during Fashionweek, a July 4th drop at Firmament to be followed by an event at Patta in Amsterdam two days later.  Click through to see more angles, let us know where these rank in this still growing capsule and stick with Sneaker News for the latest.

Classics Revisited: Patta x Nike Air Max 90 “Homegrown” (2006)

air max 90 homegrown Classics Revisited: Patta x Nike Air Max 90 Homegrown (2006)

NIKE AIR MAX 90 WEEK

Is the Air Max 90 the greatest Air Max of all-time? Sneakerheads will argue for and against that heady statement to no end, but the five 90s we’re about to feature this week for Sneaker News Classics Revisited make a strong case for the Air Max 90 being among the greatest in history. There’s no doubt that the original ‘Infrared’ colorway is the undisputed champion of 90′s, but aside from all the sick GRs that dropped along the way, the Air Max 90 was a serious player in the collab game – and we’re about the list five of the best ever. While the Air Max 90 Homegrown isn’t the first AM90 collaboration, we’re kicing things off with a name that’s been floating in and out of the sneaker headline newswire more often than any other of this group – Patta of Amsterdam.

After opening its doors in 2004, it didn’t take long for Dutch boutique Patta to gain a serious reputation as one of the most respected purveyors of streetwear in the world. In late 2006, Patta was given the honorable opportunity to design a Nike sneaker, giving their own spin on a classic by incorporating the Dutch streetwear and hip-hop culture. The selection was the Air Max 90 and the colorway was a solid green tone that was an obvious reflection of a certain regionally-legal recreational activity, but the choice of materials (the true underrated feature of the Homegrowns) – suede, a tree-leaf detailed leather, and perforated nubuck – set these alongside some of the greatest artist/store collabs of that era. The sneaker was also released in conjunction with the launch of State Magazine, but perhaps the most notorious aspect of this sticky release was the promo made by Habbekrats Reclame, an Amsterdam-based ad agency (shown below). From the colorway down to the concept, the Homegrowns were simply a masterful hit, and today stands as one of the most desirable Air Maxes in history.

Patta x KangaROOS Tennis Oxford – Release Info

patta kangaroos tennis oxford Patta x KangaROOS Tennis Oxford Release Info

With all due respect, will June or any other month feature a bigger release at Patta than last Saturday’s Nike Air Yeezy 2 drop?  Nike Sportswear won’t be able to top that buzz with their ‘Safari Pack’ Quickstrike, but that June 15th release does indeed mean that although you can’t help but have a relatively quieter weekend after the last one’s magnitude, there’s still plenty of heat on deck.  One of the more intriguing of those is the Patta x KangaROOS Tennis Oxford collabo, a trio of suede-accented canvas lowtops ready to expose a new generation to ROOS’ signature zip pocket.  These 1981 classics will arrive at select retailers like Overkill on Friday, so click through to see more images and let us know how these compare to the more conventional heat also dropping over the weekend.

Patta x KangaROOS Tennis Oxford

Amsterdam boutique Patta stepped back from the spotlight of 2010′s #1 sneaker release and only issued a single collaboration last year, a 2×2 pack of boots from an obscure American brand whose biggest impact were their namesake pocketed 1980s runners.  Maybe it’s because everything Patta touches turns to gold that the PxK Hiking Collection turned out so well, though a look at this duo’s second team-up suggests strong contributions from both sides.  The Patta x KangaROOS Tennis Oxford resurrects a lost classic from ’81 and presents it in three tonal canvas and suede designs befitting today’s styles.  These will arrive at select European retailers soon with Concepts in Cambridge, MA the only US store to get pairs; let us know if you’ll make the effort to grab them after you check out more images below.  via Sneaker Freaker Germany
