Even before the Nike MAG 2011 officially released it was a popular choice for custom palettes, and the eventual charity roll-out in September of 2011 only wedged the sneaker further into the imagination of creators worldwide. The latest guy to grab at them is Peculiar Kinetics, who has reworked the similarly tall Nike Air Command Force into a steely grey look complete with the necessary LED package, and with the help of Revive Customs (providing the sole-swap work) and Evolved Footwear (for giving these the pristine light-up glow), the ‘McFly’ identity is undeniably grasped. When the elephant print showed on on the Nike Air Force 1 iD earlier in the year plenty of sneaker heads, members of tour team included, to craft a pair of Uptowns in honor of the Supreme x Nike SB Dunk Low series of releases. Of course when that option did hit nobody could have ever guessed that Nike SB and Supreme would be getting back in bed again for an official collab later in the year. Peculiar Kinetics managed to create a model riffing off that Summer banger anyway, apparently retroactively doing over his elephant equipped Nike Air Force 1 iD. The Nike LeBron 9 is a spectacular performance machine, and though its techy build is the kind of thing that’s become far more ‘wearable’ in the context of slimmer pants, these do have the kind of versatility of older, more traditional designs like the Air Jordan VI in the sense that they’ve become arguably the most popular ‘blank canvas’ for custom designs. We’ve seen countless color-swaps on the LeBron 9, but this latest concept from Peculiar Kinetics proves that their movements are indeed unorthodox. This ‘Alley Art’ LeBron 9 ends up being one of the most intriguing customs applied to this silo as a result, its colorful palette and graffiti-inspired styling reminiscent of the high-energy colorways that have done so well during this product cycle.
