It’s been less than a month since we got our first look at their Bedford collabo from the OTW Collection and already we have word of another new Vans x Primitive teamup.  And from the looks of these images snapped on the product floor, it seems likely that this Primitive x Vans Half Cab ‘Cable Knit’ will arrive before those Bedfords, even if their muse is the type of garment many of us are just now starting to pack away for the winter.  Their grey suede and wool uppers are supremely versatile and you can’t argue with the premium quality on this brass-plated pair, but will you be among the crowd rocking this beanie/sweater-inspired kicks during the summer months?  Let us know when you hit the jump to see more, and stick with Sneaker News for release info on the latest Primitive sneaker collaboration.

Primitive x Vans OTW Bedford

Primitive proved with their Gourmet Quadici that not only could a Paul Rodriguez-owned shop collaborate with brands outside the Nike, Inc. umbrella, but they could even use a beloved Air Jordan colorway with a sneaker company who’d made its name aping Jays.  Their latest is a teamup with Nike SB/P-Rod’s biggest competition, and interestingly enough keeps some of that ‘borrowing’ theme alive thanks to the choice of silhouettes.  That’s because the Primitive x Vans OTW Bedford has lines strikingly similar to those on the DVS Torey Pudwill they dropped last November.  But instead of a tribute to two of California’s most enduring symbols, these Bedfords choose to be a symbol of top-notch quality with their mix of pig suede, denim and that peanut butter brown leather everyone’s been using for a premium twist this spring.  Click through to get a sense for what’s in store and stick with Sneaker News for release info.  via Andy Netkin

Primitive x Gourmet Quadici – Available

primitive gourmet quadici space jam 3 570x380 Primitive x Gourmet Quadici Available

We hesitate to call them true sneakerheads, but there were indeed some dudes who got so excited about the Air Jordan XI Retro ‘Space Jam’ release a couple years back that they mangled a couple of storefronts where the coveted kicks were kept.  Here’s hoping Paul Rodriguez’ Primitive doesn’t suffer a similar fate to one of its two locations upon the release of this collaboration with Gourmet, a drop that’s both an homage to His Airness and a nod to the origins of the now well-established lifestyle brand.  The Primitive x Gourmet Quadici ‘Space Jam’ comes with a black patent leather mudguard that, while not exactly practical in the kind of conditions where duck boots traditionally prove useful, most definitely signals that it’s inspired by 2009′s biggest hit not named ‘Air Yeezy’.  Check these out after the jump, let us know what you think of this ‘Space Jam’-imitating release over two years after the XIs dropped in that style (remember all the other similar looks in late ’09/early ’10?) and grab yours straight from Primitive.

Gourmet Spring 2012 Footwear

gourmet spring12 lb tredici 1 Gourmet Spring 2012 Footwear

Gourmet is arguably the most successful of the lifestyle sneaker lines launched after the turn of the century, and their lineup continues to grow and evolve to better reflect the brand’s label with each passing season.  The spring 2012 lineup brings back plenty of familiar faces while adding a couple new jams, and we’ll start with a couple pairs that we previewed a short while back.  The Gourmet Sedici sees its camo suede design contrasted by another pair done in the same vegtan leather that makes up its heel.  That same monochromatic luxury is echoed on red and blue suede Sedici Lows, which makes this chukka-inspired family the leader of the Q1 pack.  Sedicis lead the way in terms of numbers, but it might be the ‘Space Jam’-leaning Quadici collaboration with Paul Rodriguez’ Primitive that draws the most attention overall.  Click through for more including appearances by the Quattro S, Dieci, Dignan and The 28, as well as the all new 35 trainer and Tredici trail shoe.  Let us know which one wins this round and expect them at Gourmet‘s e-store shortly.

Primitive x DVS x Torey Pudwill

Sneaker companies certainly have gotten more bold about paying tribute to ‘herbal culture’. Back in the day a simple hemp upper and a wink-and-nod release date was the most you would get, but this collaboration between Primitive, DVS, and their team rider Torey Pudwill is an homage to California culture that is anything but subtle. The insoles and laces both feature the leafy print, with an extra set of the latter so you can switch them out on school days. The standard DVS tongue-tang is traded out for an image straight off the California state flag, with the familiar bear and star imagery. This capsule packs two pairs of the sneaker shown above, as well as a couple t-shirts to match. Get the full look at the promo spot after the jump as well as detailed images and grab these now from Primitive.

Primitive x Vans Half Cab

Paul Rodriguez’ Primitive boutique has done some interesting things lately, opening a shop in Berlin and more recently revealing a collaboration with Gourmet on a ‘Space Jam’-styled Quadici.  To see P-Rod’s shop get up with a brand other than the Swoosh is somewhat surprising, but despite the fact that Gourmet got its start copying Air Jordan Legacy silhouettes, they’re not a true competitor in anything but the lifestyle market.  But Vans is the world’s largest skateboarding and action sports company, their waffle-soled skate shoes a real threat to Paul’s own Nike SB.  That’s what makes the Primitive x Vans Half Cab such an intriguing collaboration, and when you add in the unique knitting on their ankle collars, this turns into one of the more interesting drops we’re looking forward to in Q1 2012.  Click through to see some more angles and let us know what you think about this border-crossing collabo.  via HB

Primitive x Gourmet Quadici ‘Space Jam’

Aside from Converse-style takeovers, it’s unprecedented for sneaker companies to collaborate with one another, and while the above pictured model isn’t exactly a Gourmet x Nike team-up, it’s as close as we’ve ever seen before.  That’s because Nike SB rider Paul Rodriguez’ retail spot Primitive has gotten up with Jon Buscemi and co. to create this new Primitive x Gourmet Quadici for next spring.  The links to Nike Inc. get even stronger when you realize the patent leather mudguard section on these plus a blue tongue tag and icey outsole indicate that this is an homage to the Air Jordan XI ‘Space Jam’, a fitting theme given Gourmet’s early ‘Ape Jordan’ days.  Click through to see more angles and let us know what you think about the sneaker scene’s newly smaller world.  via HB
