Featuring baseball-glove leather uppers, rawhide leather laces, cork foodbeds, baseball-stitch detailing on the heel, and an embossed Lousiville Slugger Logo, PRO-Keds didn’t miss a single detail with this collaborative release inspired by America’s classic, teaming up with the Louisville Slugger brand that has been an industry mainstay for over a century. Hip-hop fans who gravitate toward lyrical skill know prolific Queens emcee Action Bronson is a talent so impressive there’s ‘Not Enough Words’ to express his gift, and we can establish a few new facts about the world’s greatest Albanian-American rapper thanks to this new ‘When the Shoe Drops’ video from PRO-Keds. The scene starts with Bronson at an NY playground and evolves into a modern day Cinderella story when a young lady finds one of his fresh new PRO-Keds Royal His from the ‘Throwback Collection’ and heads out to find its rightful owner. The ending isn’t anything like you’d expect from the vast history of rappers acting in independent films, a fitting reflection of the state of both sneakers and hip-hop music in 2012 (not to mention more proof of AB’s love for old school sneakers). It’s definitely d-ring season, with every sneaker brand under the sun grabbing the traditional boot-lacing system and flipping it onto more casual models. The Royal Hi model from PRO-Keds is getting a fair share of special treatment lately, and we’ve got a preview of another premium pack coming down the pipeline. The two pairs shown here are done up in a tough nubuck, with one in black and the other in deep linen green. Also the inside lining on these, although not visible in the photos shown here, features a camo print which is a definite go-to look for the fall season. There’s a factory on West Main Street in Lousiville, Kentucky that takes in a ton of lumber and spits out the world’s most famous wooden baseball bats. When you visit the Louisville Slugger plant, you’re immediately struck by the 68,000lb bat at its entrance, though you’re much more likely to leave with a scale replica or maybe a keepsake like the keychain dangling from this new collaborative sneaker.
