Mihara Yasuhiro’s latest collaboration for Puma revisits a theme the German Cat explored a little under five years earlier. A reminder of the Roy Lichtenstein-inspired 2008 releases, this MIHARAYASUHIRO x Puma MY-61 Low takes on a Ben-Day-dotted ‘pop-art camouflage’ print that’s sure to make you stand out thanks to both its energetic upper print and the unique vulc sole sidewall swoop. The Puma team keeps a couples guys around that aren’t afraid to play with traditional sneaker shapes, with collaborators like Hussein Chalayan taking a geometric approach to remixing the German born brand’s silhouettes. This time around it’s Mihara Yasuhiro bending the rules, taking the midsole wrap on his Puma MY-61 high and low silhouettes and cranking it upwards rather than letting the bumper seamlessly run the perimeter. And if that wasn’t crazy enough for you they went ahead and threw a sinister skate print on them as well, the result being more of the more unique Puma capsules we’ve seen in some time.
