Puma has long been known as the leader in that quintessentially European sleek sneaker look, but with a variety of brands adopting similar styles, the German Cat has to expand its offerings to stay ahead of the casual curve. These new designs from the posthumous Alexander McQueen collection do the trick nicely, with an established style joined by a bold new hightop for one of the more impressive (and costly) lifestyle packs we’ve seen this summer. The Alexander McQueen x Puma Street Climb is by now a familiar silhouette, and we can see how its quilted lines carried over to the higher, hairier and strappier Joust hightop. Pictured above is a quartet of new releases from Puma Sport Fashion, two each carrying the legacy of two of 20th century Europe’s most notable fashion designers. We’ll start with the tribute to the guy without whom the Formstripe literally wouldn’t exist, the Puma Ansbach ‘Rudolf Dassler‘ in tonal navy or gold. Also opting for a clean approach is the Street Climb Mid ‘by’ Alexander McQueen, a design that shows its versatility with two significantly different material/color distributions. Distinguished British fashion designer Alexander McQueen passed away just over two years ago, but his eponymous label’s partnership with Puma has continued in tribute to its namesake. The Alexander McQueen x Puma Street Climb Mid Leather will arrive shortly in three two-toned designs that allow you to easily see how this model was inspired by the classic First Round hightop. These go with boot-like lace hooks at the top for just the slightest rugged appeal, but the rich leather on orange, black and white pairs isn’t exactly what you’d expect to see at a worksite.
