Last summer, Puma dipped five Suedes in the colors of the Olympic rings for the kind of pack that we’d more naturally to expect during years divisible by four. That in no way diminishes the gold metal-level effort on this all-time classic, and now we get a new Puma Suede Classic Eco that essentially combines the black and red designs from that set. It’s actually a bit more complicated than that, though, as the upper is more dark grey than black, a look that’s just as in-step with today’s trends in its own right. Check them out up close after the jump and look for these now at select Puma stockists like Solebox.

While the Clyde is the model that’s been getting an unprecedented level of collaborative support, the Puma Suede has been the one quietly building momentum with consistently strong releases like the two pictured above. These new Suede lowtops were made in Japan with premium materials, two different two-toned colorways vaguely reminiscent of the Jordan Spiz’ike ‘Knicks’ pack for their incomplete/complimentary portrayal of that unmistakable New York style first connected to the German Cat via Clyde Frazier. These top-notch drops might not make it stateside, but click through to see some additional images and let us know if you’d consider importing them. via mita sneakers

Next Monday’s Chinese New Year is the earliest celebration in 45 years, so that gives sneaker manufacturers just enough time to surprise us with a few last-minute releases before the Year of the Dragon gets underway. Puma becomes the latest to join the party with this shoe and jacket combination, both done in the color most commonly associated with modern China. The Puma Suede and T7 jacket each offer their own take on vibrant red, the former opting for a woven suede that hints at dragon scales, and the latter offering a variety of graphic details both tonal and in contrasting gold. Click through and you’ll be able to see more photos of both items, then hit up your overseas connects to obtain them from Puma Hong Kong. via HB

Puma has enjoyed a particularly strong year for a couple of its classics, thanks to some key collaborations and an overall commitment to quality that keeps these six-decade veterans relevant. The Puma Suede Classic Eco comes in a well-named colorway that combines Chili Pepper red suede with a Forever Blue Formstripe. The former fairly accurately denotes the caliente appeal of this pair’s bold, velvety upper, while the latter is a reminder that this silhouette will be around as long as there’s leather with a shaggy nap. Click through and you can see more of this true OG after the jump, then grab a pair from TGWO.

With every sneaker brand out there excavating their archives to allow for a wider variety of available models than at any point in history, there are plenty of competitors in the market space occupied by the Puma Suede. But when the German Cat applies a premium coating of its namesake material, this classic basketball shoe is indeed hard to beat. A set of new Suedes done up in simple colorways with deluxe treatments are on tap for early next year, bot hightops and lows maximizing their two-tone palettes with traditional cotton laces and a white cupsole. Click through and you’ll be able to see eight pairs for 2012, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for the US release date. via FNG

Just as is the case with any good conspiracy, the members behind Puma’s Shadow Society have managed to remain anonymous to this day, though they’re certainly attracting a bunch of attention with releases as dope as these. The Shadow Society is back with its third pack of Suede lowtops, renamed the Puma States to reflect their colloquial name in the UK and for this rendition, dipped in monochromatic suede whose leather sockliner adds a Gore-Tex waterproof layer in between. Expect red and blue pairs of the ‘Outdoor’ States atop gum soles with extra laces at select Puma retailers on December 2nd. via SM

You might have expected these a bit earlier in the year, but just as Jordan Brand has proved with their staggered releases, it’s not written in stone that all Chinese New Year sneakers be released in February. But actually, despite the ‘Smoking Bunny’ character that appears on their heels, insoles, lacelocks and hangtags, this new Frank Kozik x Puma Suede trio isn’t a Year of the Rabbit-themed release. Instead, they seek to draw attention to the artist whose name is scrawled upon the lateral heels with leather-toed red, black and blue colorways set to hit retailers shortly. Check them out in more detail after the jump and let us know how these rank against comparable collabos like the Rick Griffin x Vans series. via visioninvisible

A staple in the German Cat’s lineup for years, the Puma Suede has been particularly active in the past couple months, popping up in a series of new colorways including a bunch of new drops from the Shadow Society ‘secret’ collaborators. Here’s a set where we know exactly who designed the respective pairs because their handwriting is literally all over them, the new ‘Ink on Suede’ collection featuring contributions from tattoo artists David Stephen, Rino Valente and Heinz. This limited edition release marks the third and final iteration of this tatted down tag-team effort and will culimante with an event in Milan on October 26th. Click through for detailed images of each design and leave a comment to let us know if you plan to join the party later this month. via FNG
