Puma Clyde City “Tumble”

puma clyde city tumble Puma Clyde City Tumble

July 6th was a big day for the Puma Clyde, but since we first saw UNDFTD’s ‘Neoprene’ and ’24K Gold’ collabo designs that day, this classic lowtop has been completely silent.  That changes today with the revelation of a curiously titled new release, a ‘Tumble’ Clyde City lowtop that features a leather that’s been stretched so smooth it looks more like a natural grain than tumbling.  In either case, its slightly grey-ish take on the immortal bred palette looks to have comfort to match its good looks thanks to a perforated leather sockliner, and you can see them up close and personal after the jump below.

Puma Suede Classic Vintage

September 30th, 2012 by | No comments

puma suede classic vintage Puma Suede Classic Vintage

Nike Sportswear has the Blazer, Vans’ Sk8-Hi is the unquestioned skate leader in this class, adidas Originals occasionally blesses us with new Nizzas and Converse has recently put some serious effort into the Pro Leather, so what does Puma have to offer in the way of a ’70s-style vulc soled hightop?  The Puma Suede Classic Vintage fills this gap nicely, and though it has a cup sole where the others were autoclaved, this fat-laced hightop is every bit the throwback as those aforementioned classics.  These in particular have the look of an NSW VNTG Blazer release with off-white accents contrasting a single-colored suede base, of which these tomato and grey pairs are hopefully just the first of many.  Let us know how they compare below and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

It’s been done in Eco-friendly builds including 100% post-consumer materials, but when you think of treating the Puma Suede to a new makeup, doesn’t it make the most sense to start right there at the name?  And no, we’re not talking about those ‘States’ releases, although those do point you in the general direction of the kind of quality we’re dealing with on this latest drop from the German Cat.  These three Suede lowtops were Made in Japan with the kind of artisan hand-craftsmanship that makes the ‘Takumi’ label ring true, and you can celebrate this iconic silhouette’s 45th anniversary a few months early now that these have arrived at Foot Patrol.

Puma’s Archive collection is comprised of the German Cat’s heritage models, but that doesn’t mean iconic silhouettes like the Suede are stuck as merely historical documnets.  To the contrary, Puma has refreshed its beloved classic basketball design, and though this collection bears none of the material for which its releases were named, the newfound comfort and feather-light builds on the Puma Suede Lite will have longtime fans curious about the upgrades.  Click through to see how a Faas EVA sole and microperforated uppers give these a speedy feel and stick with Sneaker News for word on stateside availability.  Photos: Kenlu
