Questlove’s involvement in the sneaker world is well known, his legendary collection and overall participation in the culture garnering him a number of official collabos to come out of Beaverton. With that being said it only makes sense that he get a little Reebok love as well, with the recently retro’d Reebok Question carrying connections to the Roots drummer both in terms of name and physical location. Apparently after professing his love for Miracle Whip, Questo felt compelled to pay homage to his favorite sandwich spread in sneaker from, calling on PMK customs to create this pair that borrows the red, white, and blue blocking of that famous bottle and puts some extra Questlove touches in. Questlove has proved himself to be an icon of the hip-hop game as well as the sneaker scene. Primarily recognized as a prominent DJ and drummer for legendary hip-hop group The Roots, Questlove has gained a rock-solid reputation as being one of the true sneakerheads in pop culture circles, collaborating directly with Nike on numerous occasions. Questlove recently gave his Instagram followers a quick peek into his sneaker collection, storing his stash in three simple ways: in boxes, on shelves, and stuffed in closets. Sneaker News brought you exclusive photos courtesy of our fam at FRESHNESS detailing the ?uestlove x Nike Dunk High event at Nike Sportswear in New York and now video has surfaced from last Friday’s 21 Mercer launch party. If pictures are worth a thousand words then Quest’s assertion that the “Dunks are the only sneakers that can be fashionable either brand new or worn out,” speaks volumes as to why he chose this model for his second NSW collaboration. Only time will tell how history views Questlove’s Dunks relative to his ostentatious 1World Air Force 1s, but the one thing we do know for certain is that when you click on the jump below you can watch the video in its entirety. This past Thursday, Sneaker News brought you word of the Questlove x Nike Dunk High launch event at Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer flagship store and now thanks to the fam over at FRESHNESS, we have exclusive photos of the party. There were surprises galore in NYC on Friday night as the first five lucky sneakerheads in line were each given free kicks and everyone had the opportunity to get theirs signed by the designer. ?uest’s personal touch extended all the way to special edition NSW shoe boxes and later to a raucous DJ set. Questlove described the black pair from his Nike Dunk High pack “The tuxedo of Nikes,” but you can feel free to exercise a more relaxed attire at this upcoming event. Nike Sportswear at 21 Mercer St. in the SoHo district of New York will host a launch party for the ?uestlove x Nike Dunk High from 7-9pm. Along with the three pairs of Dunks, attendees will have a chance to get your hands on limited edition tees and the man himself will be in the building to provide some smooth tunes. Questlove owns one of the most creative minds and hands in the music industry, a set of talents that have transferred to sneakers almost seamlessly. For his next collaboration with Nike Sportswear, Questlove chose the Nike Dunk – a shoe he calls “the tuxedo of Nikes”. That explains the tonal black colorway, one that he deems is ‘rockable’ with a suit. The tonal red and tonal yellow colorways come from Q’s desire to stand out and being the topic of conversation, something that can be achieved by those colorways. The unique design of the Dunk High Strap is actually inspired by mid-80′s American television and a humorous yet an all too real scenario in which a boy is trying to impress a girl with fashionable threads. The tonal yellow and black colorways feature the bellied swoosh from the Nike Blazer, with laser-etched Questlove emblems on the heel.
