Questlove owns one of the most creative minds and hands in the music industry, a set of talents that have transferred to sneakers almost seamlessly. For his next collaboration with Nike Sportswear, Questlove chose the Nike Dunk – a shoe he calls “the tuxedo of Nikes”. That explains the tonal black colorway, one that he deems is ‘rockable’ with a suit. The tonal red and tonal yellow colorways come from Q’s desire to stand out and being the topic of conversation, something that can be achieved by those colorways. The unique design of the Dunk High Strap is actually inspired by mid-80′s American television and a humorous yet an all too real scenario in which a boy is trying to impress a girl with fashionable threads. The tonal yellow and black colorways feature the bellied swoosh from the Nike Blazer, with laser-etched Questlove emblems on the heel. The uber-talented ?uestlove and his mountainous afro hairdo can do no wrong. The adroit percussionist has dabbled with Nike once again, and even he states that his trio of Dunk Highs is a “complete opposite of [his] previous shoe…more conservative and toned down yet still just a lil bit of ‘Hey Check This Out!!!’ thrown in there.” That certainly is the case when juxtaposed with the ?uestlove x 1World x Nike Air Force 1, which features a boisterous colorway and ample use of elephant print. This Dunk High Pack features three separate colorways done in tonal style – one in red with a shirt-button fixed ‘Strap’ and two others in a ‘Bz’ format, which shows off a bellied vintage-style swoosh seen on the original Nike Blazer. This new tonal black version has been added to the bunch, and like the other two, you can see ?uestlove’s silhouette molded into the leather on the rear heel. These have dropped overseas but are set to release at select Nike Sportswear accounts like CNCPTS on March 4th, so take another look at all three below and let us know what you think.

Once again-gain-gain, ladies and gentlemen, Roots drummer ?uestlove has injected his own personal brand of adrenaline into a sneaker collaboration, this time on not one but two Nike Sportswear silhouettes. And while we’ve seen countless Dunks over the years, the Questlove x Nike Dunk High Strap and Dunk High BZ are both totally unique amongst the model’s entire history! For the former, it’s really obvious with an almost Alien Stomper-like midfoot strap covering most of the laces, while the latter goes for a subtler shift and simply applies the classic fat belly Swoosh as seen most prominently on the Nike Blazer (hence the BZ distinction). Both pairs get tonal ?uestlove heads embossed into their lateral heels plus that same fro-picked silhouette on the tongue tags and you can see more shots of both pairs after the jump. In addition to his day (well, night) job as the drummer for Grammy Award-winning The Roots, ?uestlove is also a noted producer, DJ, and music journalist and has garnered one of the more respected reputations in the biz. He’s also equally respected in the sneaker world, because he’s been spotted with a ton of great sneakers like the Air Yeezy, and he’s also been responsible for one of the best Air Force 1s of this decade. His next collaboration with Nike featured two Nike Dunk Highs – one of which is the clean and simple tonal-yellow uppered colorway. Alongside the basic colorway is ?uestlove branding on the tongue label and heel and a bellied swoosh. These will release alongside the ?uestlove x Dunk High Strap on Friday, February 11th, so take a look below and stick with Sneaker News for possible release info elsewhere.

Earlier Sneaker News showed you ?uestlove’s latest collaboration with Nike – a set of two Nike Dunk Highs in a tonal red and tonal yellow upper. Of course, the more interesting of the two is the red pair, which features a unique shroud/over-sized strap on the in-step. Is there a purpose/reasoning behind the addition of the strap? Perhaps to give ?uestlove a lock-down fit when he’s busy drumming it up for The Roots and Jimmy Fallon? ?uestlove, who is indeed a noted celebrity sneakerhead, has a nice track record with Nike so far, as his 1World Air Force 1 design is one of the more sought after Forces of the decade. We’ve got new images of this Dunk High Strap after the jump, so take a look below because unless you’re in the vicinity of Undefeated Tokyo this Friday, chances are you won’t be getting these easily for now! Questlove of The Roots fame is known for his snazzy drumming skills, his oversized ‘fro, and more recently, his ‘Inside ?uestlove’s Mind’ segment on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon segment in which the drummer’s thoughts are narrated by the Late Night host. Perhaps one of his thoughts was to do another Nike Sportswear collaboration, and this February, his thoughts have come to shape in the form of two Nike Dunk Highs. The first Varsity Red Dunk High features a unique instep-strap/shroud with button appliques on the edges, with a special ?uestlove logo on the tongue and heel. The tonal yellow pair features no ‘strap’ construction, but does feature the same tongue and heel ?uestlove branding. These are a very limited release and will hit exclusively at UNDFTD in Tokyo/Shizuoka this Friday, February 11th, so take another look below and let us know what you think of this latest ?uestlove collaboration. via plaza.
