While most of the sports world was focused on the NFL Divisional Playoff games over the weekend, there were still a number of headlines made by the NBA. Kobe Bryant continued his streak of 40-point games while wearing the Nike Zoom Kobe VII, and Monta Ellis strengthened his campaign as this year’s Gilbert Arenas as he was spotted rocking the Air Jordan XI ‘Space Jam’. Teammate and fellow sneakerhead Nate Robinson rotated the Air Jordan XIII ‘Playoffs’ and Nike Air Max2 CB ’94. Ray Allen rocked the Air Jordan XIII ‘Ray Allen PE’ against the Bulls, Rudy Gay and Andre Iguodala sported the Nike Zoom Hyperenforcer (releasing this February), and Timofey Mosgov of the Nuggets shined in the Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4. On the night of February 10th, 2011, Ray Allen became the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers made, eclipsing Reggie Miller’s mark of 2,560 makes. That night, Ray wore the Air Jordan XIII PE that would later hit stores as a limited release, which today commands close to $1,000 in the open market. This past Friday, in a game against the Chicago Bulls, Ray Allen broke out his PEs once again, scoring 16 points and adding two more three-points to his ever-increasing record. Ray turns thirty-seven years old this July, and although his contract with the Celtics ends at the end of this season, he certainly has the game and physique to play several more years, making his record almost untouchable. 2011 was in one way or another a ‘career year’ for Ray Allen. His capturing of the NBA’s All-Time 3-Pt. Record was the perfect cap to a legendary career that is unlikely to be replicated for a long time. Ray Allen’s professionalism and devotion to the game of basketball is what makes him one of the greatest players to ever hit the hardwood, but credit Jordan Brand for tapping that potential when they brought him on as a Jordan Brand athlete. In celebration of Ray Allen’s record-breaking moment, Jordan Brand created this special edition colorway of the Air Jordan 2011; it features the now-familiar ‘Ray’ logo on the tongue with the magic number 2561 printed beneath. The mudguard also emphasizes the pressed leather technique by colorizing it in two different tones of gold and green. Jordan Brand athlete Ray Allen’s always been one of the humble guys. Even his portrayal of Jesus Shuttlesworth as a future star in He Got Game mirrored his true self – a consummate professional that let anything get to his head…until now. Well, the comical NBA Jam franchise is known for creating playable characters with oversized noggins, and as we get a peek at some stills at the upcoming game, we also get a look at Ray Allen’s Air Jordan 2011 PEs. It’s got a crisp white upper with a Celtic green tongue and lace set-up, while the ‘Away’ version uses a black/green upper. It’s a rare occasion for Jordan Brand to release an Air Jordan shoe bearing someone else’s name on it, which is why those super-limited Air Jordan VIII PEs @ House of Hoops went so darn fast when they released. For 2011, Jordan Brand bent the rules once again when it decided to release the Air Jordan XIII Ray Allen PE, which paid tribute to the longest-tenured Jordan Brand athlete for his record-breaking achievement. This July 2011 release was one of the hottest topics on Sneaker News, and things are about to get a bit more interesting because Kix-Files just reported another limited stock of these hard-to-get kicks. With the resale prices of the Air Jordan XIII Ray Allen PE steadily on the rise, you could end up buying yourself an actual non-released PE with that dough. We recently showed you an Air Jordan V PE that Ray Allen wore during his days as a Seattle Sonic (technically, he was never a Supersonic), but here’s a look at another sick Ray Allen exclusive in the form of the Air Jordan XIV; it features a similar White/Green colorway (like the one that actually dropped in 2005), but this version doesn’t featuring the stitched upper, but instead a luxurious tumbled leather. These also feature a grey inner lining and tongue, and Ray’s PE stitched on the medial ankle of the shoe. Ray Allen’s been a trending topic in the world of sneakers lately, but most of you are well aware that his sneaker game has been absolutely on point even since before his days as a professional NBA player. As the longest-tenured Jordan Brand basketball athlete, Ray Allen’s rocked some sick Air Jordan Player Exclusives throughout his career, and some may argue that the Green/Yellow color themes he rocked to match his Seattle Sonics unis were some of his best. Check out this Air Jordan V PE in Black/Sunstone; it features a black nubuck upper with Sunstone Yellow accents on the inner lining, branding, ’34′ logo, and on the outsole.
