With the resale prices of the Air Jordan XIII Ray Allen PE steadily on the rise, you could end up buying yourself an actual non-released PE with that dough. We recently showed you an Air Jordan V PE that Ray Allen wore during his days as a Seattle Sonic (technically, he was never a Supersonic), but here’s a look at another sick Ray Allen exclusive in the form of the Air Jordan XIV; it features a similar White/Green colorway (like the one that actually dropped in 2005), but this version doesn’t featuring the stitched upper, but instead a luxurious tumbled leather. These also feature a grey inner lining and tongue, and Ray’s PE stitched on the medial ankle of the shoe. Ray Allen’s been a trending topic in the world of sneakers lately, but most of you are well aware that his sneaker game has been absolutely on point even since before his days as a professional NBA player. As the longest-tenured Jordan Brand basketball athlete, Ray Allen’s rocked some sick Air Jordan Player Exclusives throughout his career, and some may argue that the Green/Yellow color themes he rocked to match his Seattle Sonics unis were some of his best. Check out this Air Jordan V PE in Black/Sunstone; it features a black nubuck upper with Sunstone Yellow accents on the inner lining, branding, ’34′ logo, and on the outsole. Ray Allen’s always had that ‘underrated’ aura about him. He was one of many superstars in that monstrous 1996 NBA Draft class, which featured the likes of Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant, and he played for a Milwaukee team that was hardly in the national spotlight. Ray was always a baller in the Playoffs, dropping 20+ per game rather easily while being one game away from making it to his first ever NBA Finals in 2001, but it was all ‘downhill’ from there; the Bucks missed the Playoffs there-after, and he was shipped to Seattle in a blockbuster trade, where he reached the Playoffs just once. Ray Allen’s one of those guys who had superstar talent in mediocre surroundings, and it wasn’t until his arrival in Boston in 2007 when the entire load wasn’t put on his shoulders. That shared burden of ‘win now’ was a lot easier to carry, and in an ever-so-slightly diminished role, he helped lead Boston to its first ever NBA Championship since 1986.
Today, Ray Allen has outlived most of his ’96 draftmates (with the exception of 5-time champion Kobe Bryant), and in that impressive career, he’s solidified himself as one of the best pure scorers to ever play the game while sealing his title as the greatest 3-point shooter of all-time. At 36 years old, Ray still has a few years of quality basketball left in him, and even if he retires without adding a second ring to his trophy case, he’ll leave the NBA as one of the greatest players of all-time. Ray Allen is the longest-tenured Jordan Brand athlete for good reason, and tomorrow, sneakerheads will have the opportunity to celebrate his longevity because Jordan Brand will release the Air Jordan XIII PE that Ray wore during his record-breaking night. These were originally set to be an extremely limited release, but other retail spots like CNCPTS and even Finishline have confirmed a limited stock, so hopefully these won’t be to hard to obtain. Records are meant to be broken, and apparently the theme of shattering limits extends to sneaker releases. Perhaps never before has it been more poetic to see a sneaker with a super-limited drop make its way to wider retail availability as with the Ray Allen Air Jordan XIII PE. This green and white Thirteen is the same as the ones Sugar Ray was wearing when he broke the NBA’s all-time three-pointers record, adding yet another chip to Jordan’s side of the scale versus Reggie Miller. These Jordan 13s were expected only in Boston with the 1 anniversary of Miami’s SoleFly also commanding a small run, but Finish Line has just tweeted that they’ll have the Ray Allen Air Jordan 13s “online only at some point.” Well, at least they were specific about the not needing to line up part. Long before Ray Allen became the greatest 3-point shooter of all time, he was Jesus Shuttlesworth, a high-school basketball standout (and to some, a meal ticket) whose imminent super-stardom opened a window to a uncontrollable gust of personal and professional difficulties. We all remember ‘He Got Game’ as one of the better NBA star-turned-actor films from the 90′s (no disrespect to Kazaam), and for sneakerheads, it was a great showcase of some of the best sneakers of the decade, like the Pearl Foams, Hawk Flights, and of course, the Air Jordan XIII. Today, Ray Allen stands as not only the best long-range sharpshooter in history, but also as an NBA Champion, respected veteran leader, devoted family man, and the most successful Jordan Brand basketball athlete to date; with the coming release of the Air Jordan XIII Ray Allen PE, Jordan Brand has also fashioned this t-shirt, featuring Ray Allen’s jump-shot logo alongside a ‘He Got Aim’ slogan – would be a nice match to the upcoming release, wouldn’t they? Stateside sneakerheads were crushed with the news that the Air Jordan V ‘Quai 54′ was indeed not going to release here in the US, but that doesn’t mean Jordan Brand won’t be giving us a green-on-white Air Jordan Legacy model this month, either. The release date has just been changed, so now it will be Saturday, July 23rd that the Boston House of Hoops and Miami’s SoleFly will start selling the Air Jordan XIII Ray Allen PE that he was wearing when he broke the NBA’s career record for three-pointers along with a special matching t-shirt. These are gonna be instant sellout material, with mid-Atlantic heads heading either north or south on I-95 to one of the two spots; do you plan on joining the camp-out? Ray Allen made history on February 9th when he broke the all-time NBA record of 3-pointers made, capping off a sure-fire Hall of Fame career. During that game, Jordan Brand outfitted him in a sweet White/Green Player Exclusive colorway of the Air Jordan, featuring his ‘RAY’ logo on the tongue. News of a limited release of the Air Jordan XIII Ray Allen PE stirred up some debate, and now Sneaker News has the official release date and information for one of the most limited Air Jordans in recent memory.
