The Reebok Answer 1 was a big deal for the brand when it made its debut back in 1997. The sneaker was the first design that brought the DMX 10 tech over into the basketball category, a move that proved to be a good one given how well the sneakers held down AI in the early part of his career. The next pair on the horizon is this black, red, and gold combination that will be in stores this weekend. Continue reading for a glimpse at these upcoming Reeboks in their native Philly and watch for them to launch on Friday, November 8th for $149.99 at retailers like Foot Locker, Finish Line, Champs, Jimmy Jazz and Reebok.

The younger cats might not remember, but those Reebok x Allen Iverson commercials with The Answer giving step-by-step tutorials on how to crack ankles were dope! The Reebok Answer DMX was front and center for those awesome ads, and with the return of the Reebok Answer DMX coming later this year, we hope that the streetball-style of basketball handles returns to the NBA (it’s getting a bit boring, don’t you think?). The OG Black/Red colorway is headed for retail this August, so we expect some guys in the NBA to rock these once the 2013-2014 season starts, so check out the additional angles below and stay tuned for a release during the Fall 2013 season.

Reebok Answer DMX “Iridescent Snake”

Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant – without question the two best players to come out of that revolutionary 1996 Draft Class – started off their careers with shoe deals. Allen, of course, had Reebok, and Kobe started his legacy off with adidas, and although Allen clearly got off the better start (Kobe wasn’t a consistent starter until a few years after his rookie season), the Black Mamba obviously advanced much further than Allen ever has. Even then, Iverson is one of the most respected players of all-time, with his Reebok Answer line being the nice counterpoint to the Jordan and Penny that Nike was pumping out during that era, and now that the Reebok Answer line is indeed making a comeback, it’s time for the Georgetown alumn to experience the renaissance he deserves. We’ve got an exclusive look at the ‘Iridescent Snake’ colorway of the Reebok Answer DMX so take a look and stay tuned for more. Thanks to lpmostore for the photos.

reebok answer dmx black red preview 4 Reebok Answer DMX Fall 2013

Reebok’s dominant signature athletes were big-men at first, with the Shaq Diesel and Reign Man Shawn Kemp representing the brand with every earth-shattering slam dunk or post move. Allen Iverson sorta spelled their style of play, with his perimeter flair and unmatched speed bringing in that level of sportiness to the Reebok Signature line. After rocking the Questions for a bit, Reebok presented Iverson with the Answer DMX – the first signature shoe that featured the ‘Answer’ moniker. DMX technology is a celebrated highlight of the magnificent 90′s era of sneakers, but will it hold up against all the new innovations of the 21st Century? Find out this Fall 2013 season when the Reebok Answer DMX makes its return on the OG Black/Red colorway.
