Starting with a few pairs of horsehair-accented Air Max 1s last year, Nike Sportswear began a microtrend toward applying spongy silicon crepe soles to some of its standby silhouettes. There are still a couple of Air Royals on the way with this decidedly boot-like bottom, but suprisingly few of the Swoosh’s competitors have chosen to emulate what’s gotta be something of an inevitable source of inspiration, given how many boot design cues are being borrowed these days. So the Reebok Classic Crepe Pack instantly earns a bit of extra oomph thanks to this relative vacuum, these three new two-toned suede colorways taking the blocking in a different direction than the initially previewed pairs. The reason it seems like Swizz Beatz was able to make such an impact on Reebok in such a short period of time is not just because of his star power, but because the brand has a rich history filled with beloved designs. Swizzy’s Kamikazes remind us of a time when RBK was heading in a new direction in the ’90s, but even before that, Reebok had the casual market on lock with their Classics lineup. First up is the Reebok Classic in its most recognizable form, a white leather getup with grey accents and all of the company’s old branding. Joining that pair are two Classic Leather Crepes, which feature a spongey silicone sole beneath the suede uppers. Click through to see all three pairs and look for these at Reebok retailers like Extra Butter.

They’re obviously competitive when it comes to lightweight comfort but the Reebok Classic Leather Clean Ultralite is also a contender for most perplexing sneaker nomenclature in 2011. Yes, the Classic Clean Leather Ultralite is, well, light and it’s definitely built on the Reebok Classic’s immortal silhouette, but three of these four pairs feature no leather whatsoever and a fourth merely uses cowhide as an accent material. The rest of this entire pack is crafted in ripstop nylon which means they’re not only weightless but durable and these tonal colorways make for a fashionable approach to lifestyle-oriented comfort. Click through to see grey, navy, black and pink pairs atop the new 3D Ultralite sole and look for these at Reebok Classic retailers starting Tuesday, March 15th. via FRESHNESS

Adding a spongy silicone crepe sole to a sneaker is one quick way to add a splash of sophistication and when you’re working with one of the game’s iconic silhouettes, the result can be downright delicious. We saw the Nike Air Max 1 take a similar turn last fall and now the Reebok Classic Leather Crepe shows us what the Vector brand can do with a squishy sole. Each of the three pairs you’ll see in more photos after the jump features a simple suede construction with tonal accents and a contrasting sockliner to compliment the gum brown bottoms that should make these amongst the most comfortable Classics ever drafted. No word yet on the drop date so let us know what you think and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for updates on the US release. via High Snobiety
