Jun Watanabe’s got a ‘thing’ for polka dots, doesn’t he? The latest offering of the Jun Watanabe for Reebok does in fact feature fuschia dots on the royal blue Pump bladder on the usual vibrant colorway selected by the Japanese designer, only this version brings it atmos into the mix. This three-way collaboration clearly echoes the distinct tastes of our sneakerhead pals in the Far East – but would you cop if they arrived at US retailers? Reebok is synonymous with the Classic Leather, but even with that models 30th anniversary in 2013, there’s a model roughly ten years its junior that’s getting quite a bit of attention. We’ll have to wait until next year for any kind of birthday celebration for the Reebok Insta Pump Fury, and perhaps that’s part of the explanation for why so many dope colorways are arriving for this futuristic classic and its HLS update. The latest release goes with a palette you might expect from a more traditional suede and mesh old school runner, and proves that’s what’s good for the NBs and NSWs of the world is good for RBK as this Racing Green, Steel and white pair offers a twist on the vintage look with pairs available now at retailers like SNS.

Among this weekend’s significant sneaker releases is one that might not make it to stateside Nike Sportswear retailers. atmos Tokyo is combining camouflage patterns and animal prints on a couple of exciting Nike Air Max 1 collabs, and one of the designs was just too timely to keep on a single release. So now we see the atmos x Reebok Insta Pump Fury in tiger camo and snake scales just like the AM1 and recognize how rare it is to see such a concept spanning across multiple major brands. As was to be expected, there isn’t a sneaker brand under the sun that’s turning down the opportunity to celebrate the Year of the Snake. Reebok’s move for the 2013 Chinese new year looks to be the Reebok Insta Pump Fury ‘Year of the Snake’, a red, white, and gold inline model not to be confused with atmos’ upcoming scaly pair. You have to wonder what kind of ‘YOTS’ pair could have been whipped up within Reebok’s increasingly more talked about retro basketball line, but for now it looks like the Pump lineup is doing the heavy lifting with that theme. The revered footwear retailer known for its outstanding sneaker collaborations put on quite a show at the Project Trade Show in NYC yesterday as they previewed a sampling of their 2013 sneaker collaborations. Working with the likes of Nike, adidas, Onitsuka Tiger, New Balance, and Reebok, atmos has once again showcased their talents by putting out some creative designs without any hints of redundancy or predictability.
