Since last holiday’s ‘Leopard’ edition from mita sneakers, the Reebok Insta Pump Fury has been a popular collaborative canvas for Japanese brands looking to get in on the animal print craze.  The latest comes from one of United Arrows’ most popular sublabels, as Beauty & Youth once again team up with the Vector brand, this time for two new Insta Pump runners.  Both opt for white contrast stitching to affix a black overlay, but the differences between tonal purple and multicolored plus a teal outsole has them providing significant variety.  Let us know how these compare to mita’s bookends over the last year, X-Girl’s zebras and Jun Watanabe’s dalmation-spotted second try and stick with Sneaker News for the outside chance these arrive at US retailers.

mita sneakers helped get the ball rolling on what has especially in Japan been a strong year for the Insta Pump Fury, issuing a leopard edition back when that trend was just getting its legs.  They’re looking to bookend 2012 with another style that incorporates a feline theme, but instead of just opting for cheetah or even ocelot or giraffe, these mita x Expansion x Reebok Insta Pump Furys add another layer by utilizing the tiger camo print that’s become Expansion’s trademark.  Adding a red and black overlay atop this earthy base pattern results in a Gucci-ish palette whose matte textures and concealment pattern stand in stark contrast to the patent-and-perfed mita release from back in ’08.  Let us know where these rank in the Tokyo retailer’s growing catalog of team efforts and stick with Sneaker News to see if we’re lucky enough that they make it stateside.

Sneaker ads have evolved to the point where they either seamlessly blend into your web surfing experience, or absolutely captivate you to the point where DVRs seem unnecessary.  But back when the printed word was at its peak, full-page ads in magazines used to be one of the most popular ways to tease a new release.  Here’s a look at an interesting ‘collaboration’ of sorts from 2001, when mag ad geniuses Absolut got in on the sneakerhead craze before the Nike SB craze helped to usher in the current wave.  ’Absolut Obsession’ has the familiar Swedish vodka bottle shape in play as per the usual, but what’s so remarkable about this particular iteration is both that it’s crafted entirely in kicks, and that so many of them represent old school Reebok heat.  Have a look at the full ad below, let us know which pairs you’ve owned and if you remember seeing this Serge Paulet photo in its first run.  You can also check out a Nike collector’s re-creation of the classic ad after the jump as well.

Although it was introduced in the 1970′s, digital camouflage print continues to have a futuristic air about it mainly due to the pixelated micropatterns we associate with the digital space. Seems to be a perfect fit for the Insta Pump Fury, a shoe that was certainly ahead of its own time when it was introduced in the mid-90′s; the digi-camo is used solely on the upper Pump bladder, which a black base layer providing the contrasting punch of the camo print, and the electric Charged Green on the interior completes quite the next-level appeal we commonly paired with the Reebok Insta Pump fury. Endclothing has them in stock now so don’t wait around for these because they’ll disappear fast!
