REEBOK INSTA PUMP FURY The Reebok Insta Pump Fury is a runner in Reebok’s innovative Pump line originally released in 1993. The sneaker utilizes a segmented design and opts out of laces, instead relying on the lockdown cushioning of the Insta Pump CO2 charger. The Reebok Insta Pump Fury has been re-released countless times since its 1993 debut via both in-house and collaborative designs.

Having dropped its two most recognizable OG colorways in less than a year, it’s time for the Reebok Insta Pump Fury to come through with some new looks. This latest pair features a Knicks/Mets-like blue and orange combo plus white and black accents, a formula not radically different from the Clemson-leaning pair that touched down last fall. But even though this still-futuristic design is built in such a way that requires a certain consistency across its overlay, there are still plenty of blocking patterns available, which keeps this one feeling fresh even with those on-paper similarities. Each of its most memorable original colorways has released in January of the past two years with plenty of new Reebok Insta Pump Fury goodness in between. The latest refresh comes to us with healthy doses of what might be the most popular single color for this model in recent memory, but the application of purple on this pair is unlike the last fall’s release or the ‘Purple Rain’ colorway that preceded it. Jun Watanabe’s ‘Mr. Bottle Head’ sequel also features quite a bit of the regal color just like 2011′s; where does the above pictured new model rank amongst all these jams? Mr. Bottle Head is the kind of character you could imagine engaging in habitual patterns, so here’s hoping that Jun Watanabe’s latest collaboration with Reebok is a sign of many to come. The latest Jun Watanabe x Reebok Insta Pump Fury is very similar to the last on paper: black and white spotted design accented by bright accents in the red and blue range for a wild look befitting 1993′s most forward thinking runner. But this latest pair re-balances the black/white distribution and varies the sizes of its dots, a look that coupled with a gradient for the color pop midsole, adds to the significant differences between this pair and last summer’s. Check out the new version in detailed images after the jump and hit up your overseas connects to get a pair from Asian RBK retailers like Limited Edt.

While Nike Sportswear looks back on the Dream Team’s 20th Anniversary this summer, Reebok is left to recall that their most significant marketing campaign for the 1992 Olympics was a substantial failure. The ‘Dan & Dave’ series featured America’s top decathletes in a series of TV ads designed to make them household names before Barcelona. But after Dan O’Brien failed to qualify for the teams after bombing on the pole vault at the USATF trials, RBK was left with a lesson Nike later learned the hard way with ‘MVPuppets’. Perhaps Reebok was just ahead of their time with O’Brien, though, as Dan went on to win the gold in Atlanta four years later. The Reebok Insta Pump Fury came onto the scene sometime in between, and this new Olympic Flag-inspired colorup shows why this radically angular runner still manages a cutting edge look nearly two decades after debuting. Now that the All-Star game is out of the way, it’s pretty easy to spot the next big sports event on the horizon that every sneaker company under the sun will be latching onto for inspiration. We’re speaking of course of the 2012 Summer Olympics, an event that Reebok is readily more equipped for than the ASG given their long history of involvement in the Summer Games. The first couple of looks from the Vector Brand grabbing the Olympic theme are the Reebok Insta Pump Fury and the Reebok Pump Omni Lite, both of which apparently carry the US flag in this particular instance with their red and white combos. The stars and stripes thrown in around the perimeter of the Omni Lite clear up any ambiguity established by the lack of blue across the two pairs. We’ve got some extra shots of the Reebok Pump 2012 ‘Olympic Pack’ after the jump, so check those out and stick with Sneaker News for word on whether or not these make it to domestic shores. via atmos

The Reebok Insta Pump Fury is one of those models that some sneakerheads would say doesn’t get the kind of attention it deserves in the US (though that’s precicely the kind of esoteric appeal that tends to attract that same cult following). So when a release like this comes along that brings not only a Japanese collaboration but one of the OG colorways stateside, you’re looking at an explosion about to go down. The mita sneakers x Reebok Insta Pump Fury brings the leopard print that’s trending right now together with the original ‘Citron’/'Firecracker Red’ colorway (limited to 2012 pairs) for a two-pack first believed a Japanese exclusive that’s going to have RBK fanatics hitting up New York’s Extra Butter before it’s too late.

With all the Japanese brands collaborating on classic runners and other old school kicks, applying wild animal prints to their well established lines, it’s almost a shock that we haven’t seen this particular model get the safari touch. The mita sneakers x Reebok Insta Pump Fury ’Leopard’ picks up on a trend we’ve been seeing quite frequently of late, and applies it to the base layer of a colorway that manages to be more ostentatious than pretty much all the others thanks to its contrast stitching and red accent hits. Click through so you can see more images and let us know if these are import-worthy and where they rank against the growing crowd of leopard print sneakers in 2011.

We’ve seen a small sampling of the deluge of London Olympics-inspired shoes to come in 2012, and now another brand throws their hat into the ring (or five rings, as it were). The Reebok Insta Pump Furycomes through in a Google-rific combination of primary colors plus a black overlay for the kind of design that echoes the high-contrast trend that was at its peak during the Beijing Games. This particular model proves an excellent choice to represent the XXX Olympiad thanks to its angular design echoing the jagged London 2012 logo, and has us excited for all the festivities to come next August. Check out the ‘London’ Insta Pump Fury in greater detail after the jump and let us know which of the upcoming Olympic sneakers you’re alraedy anticipating. via SF
