Swizz Beatz isn’t the only hip-hop figure riding with the Reebok revival that we’re currently in the midst of. There’s also Tyga, who has landed his own pair of signature sneakers as a result, and dudes like Rick Ross and DJ Khaled. Ross in particular has been pretty enthusiastic about the brand as of late, taking to Instagram on a regular basis to show off the most recent pairs he’s been blessed with. Here both Southern hip-hop heavyweights show off the upcoming Reebok Kamikaze II in the ‘Red Flash’ colorway. There are more Reebok Kamikaze II colorways waiting in the wing from the Reebok Classics team. Also set to be brought back is the straight up black and white colorway and a flash red version, both of which are original colorways. The Reebok Kamikaze II seems poised to be this year’s answer to last year’s Question craze (although no word yet on whether not they’ll be getting the collaborative touch), a notion that will be tested come this second set of releases. Iverson, Shaq, and Kemp – the three most recognizable stars to have represented Reebok in its performance basketball heyday – are making an incredible comeback in 2013. Iverson already laid his groundwork with the Question and Answer IV drops last year, but 2013 will be a three-pronged effort as a number of their signature models will hit stores in various OG and Retro colorways. From the Kamikaze II, an iridescent ‘Invisibility Cloak’ version as well as a neon/white/black colorway will hit stores, two Shaqnosis joints will be ready to hypnotize, and the OG Black/Red Answer 1 will arrive in the Fall 2013 season. Jay-Z in Reeboks? Long before he stayed in Yeezys, LeBrons, and the like, that wasn’t such an uncommon site. You’ll remember that just ten years ago Jay-Z was a Reebok company man thanks to his wildly popular S. Carter collection (admit it, you bought a pair). For whatever reason, he’s back on the bandwagon, spotted here in the just released Reebok Kamikaze II. The Shawn Kemp pair isn’t too far away from the Brooklyn Nets color combo, so maybe we’ll even see them courtside sometime soon. This weekend marks another hotly anticipated retro release from Reebok’s basketball archives. On deck for tomorrow, January 19th, is the Reebok Kamikaze II, and while the Shawn Kemp line didn’t end up as deep as that of later Reebok athlete Allen Iverson, you can bet the sneakers still incite just as many nostalgic feelings for footwear enthusiasts world wide. Will we see the Reebok Kamikaze II enjoy the same success as last year’s Question lineup? The return of the Reebok Kamikaze II just got a little bit more relevant with the recent rumors that Seattle might be getting an NBA squad once again. Whether or not they’d be rechristened as the Sonics is still a bit up in the air, but if so we can only hope that one young player on that potential future squad will be breaking out this Shawn Kemp classic somewhere down the line. Reebok Classics is ready to kick off its much-anticipated 2013 campaign with the long-awaited and soon-to-be celebrated launch of the Reebok Kamikaze II OG. This outstanding design was worn by Shawn Kemp – one of the most exciting players of the 90′s with a vicious dunking ability and exciting above-the-rim style of play. This January 18th, the Kamikaze II will finally make a comeback at select Reebok retailers and Reebok.com, retailing for a cool $100 (a relative bargain in today’s sneaker market).
