Reebok is ready to take its lifestyle footwear label to the next level with the much-anticipated release of the Swizz Beatz x Reebok Kamikaze, a remastered version of the heralded Reebok design from the 90′s, now given a contemporary twist. We first learned of the partnership between Reebok and the hip-hop mega-producer late last year and after an official announcement and debut in mid-February, Reebok is ready to lay down a hit collabo with the limited release of the Grey/Red colorway of the Swizz Beatz x Reebok Kamikaze. Just eighty-four pairs of this version will release tomorrow, May 13th, with each pair being accompanied with an individually numbered hangtag autographed by Swizz Beatz himself. We’ve been teased aplenty with sneak previews at upcoming colorways like the ‘Black and Yellow’ and ‘Grape Juice,’ as well as the ‘Name These Kicks‘ contest that went live at the end of January, but now its finally time to try to get your hands on a pair. Sneaker News already brought you a list of stores that will have these available (listed again after the jump), but if you’ll be in the NYC area tomorrow, hit up Harlem NYC on 125th St. for a special release event and a Reebok footwear showcase.

To help promote the already buzzworthy shoe, Reebok and Swizz Beats will make 84 autographed pairs of the shoe available next month. Whether they will be up for sale or be involved in a giveaway contest of some sort has yet to be determined, but that information is set to be released very soon. Collabs between hip-hop artists and sneaker brands have been all the rage lately, but does the Swizz Beats x Reebok have what it takes to crack the Sneaker News Top 30? In mid-November Sneaker News gave you a heads up regarding an upcoming collaboration between a big-name sneaker brand and a hip-hop megastar. No, we’re not talking a Yeezy 2, but Reebok’s partnership with Swizz Beats. Something like a Reebok Kamikaze for the future, Swizz Beats has transferred the silky smoothness of his music onto the shoe, and here we get a teaser at the upcoming ‘Grape Juice’ colorway. Featuring a tonal Grape purple upper with patent leather accents for that added sweetness, the Swizz Beats x Reebok ‘Grape Juice’ will be one to look out for in 2011 (unless Dave Chappelle implores Swizz to change the name to ‘Grape Drink’). Let us know what you think of this upcoming collaborative release and stick with Sneaker News for more updates.

Rapper x sneaker collaborations are nothing new at this point, but historically, there have been a lot more misses than hits. Last year, Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy defied the odds and raised the bar for future entertainer-designed sneaker endeavors, and now producer extraordinaire Swizz Beats takes his own stab at the shoe design game. In a team-up with Reebok, Swizz has helped whip up a brand new sneaker that is sure to turn a few heads when it hits retail in 2011. The shoe sports a high cut with clean lines and an extra high tongue featuring a king-size Reebok “R” tongue label, but the standout feature has to be interesting midsole design, featuring a Zig-ish pattern that creeps almost halfway up the midsole towards the rear of the shoe. Check out another pic after the jump and let us know what you think. We’ll keep you posted on more developments from the Swizz Beats x Reebok partnership.
