In the end, all that matters is if the shoe looks good on your feet. If it doesn’t, chances are it won’t be a popular item, even if the shoe promises to make you jump twice as high or perform some other physical feat that was at once unattainable. Over the last few decades, footwear designers have successfully welded design and function into some of the greatest sneakers of all-time, starting with the debut of Air Max technology in 1987 to the six-combo interchangeable cushioning presented by the Air Jordan 2012. Sprinkled in-between this chronological list is some of technologies that you might’ve forgotten, like Reebok’s DMX or Converse’s Helium, so check out some of what made Complex’s list below and head to Complex for the full twenty-five.

The fourth and final leg of tennis’s yearly Grand Slam is about to get underway, and with that, comes the final installment of the Packer Shoes x Reebok Court Victory Pump ‘Grand Slam Pack’ – one of the more creative and well-executed multi-shoe packs we’ve seen so far in 2011. After a lot of head turning and quick sell-outs from the Australian, French and Wimbledon editions, last but not least comes the U.S. Open version. Inspired by the blue court with some tennis ball neon yellow for added pop, the U.S. Open Pump fits right in with a bold look of its own, especially when the full 3M upper is reflecting in the light. You can get another look after the jump and stay tuned for release info coming soon.

If you’ve been to the last few, you’d know at this point, that rain and Packer Shoes releases go hand in hand, but it was going to take more than a little inclement weather to keep people from coming out to last night’s in-store event. Always cleverly conceived and low in quantities, Packer and Reebok have teamed up for a number of well-received Pump collaborations already, but for the latest installment, they decided to up the ante by enlisting the creative direction of one of the sneaker world’s most prolific collaborators. Besides being regarded as a legend in the graffiti and art realms, Stash has also lent his vision to an impressive slew of sneakers over the years from a variety of big and small footwear labels. While the end results have had many different aesthetic approaches, nothing stands out quite like the multi-blue color scheme that has graced most of Stash’s most revered sneaker creations.
With the Pump Graphlite as the latest canvas for Stash’s trademark color splash, Packer’s Reebok collab brings back some classic flavor in more ways than one. It’s been a while since we’ve seen this underrated Reebok classic and what better way to reintroduce it than with a super-clean Stash colorway and waterproof materials. From the look of the line waiting outside of Packer Shoes in the rain last night, it was pretty evident that a lot of folks were very eager to get their hands on a pair, and before the doors even opened a few minutes after 6:30, the entire run that was made available online had been completely cleared out.
A few people were brought in at a time with Stash eventually waiting by the register to sign shoes, boxes, posters and other goodies for each customer. Stash joked and mixed it up with the crowd, happily posing for pics and tagging up everything in sight, including the dope MIZU water bottles that were given away with each pair of Pumps. Well over an hour passed before everyone from outside made their way in and up to the front of the line, and at that point, everyone just helped themselves to the refreshments and mingled with Stash and other attendees in the mobbed store with good vibes all around. Between the in-store and online purchases, the limited 289 pair run was long gone by today, so congrats to all that were lucky enough to cop a pair. Enjoy a gallery of pics from the in-store event after the jump and stay tuned for our 1 on 1 interview with Stash about the Packer Shoes x Reebok project and much more.

Back when the Packer x Reebok ‘Nique’ Pump Omni Zone dropped in December, we caught a glimpse of a member of the Packer Shoes crew wearing a special friends & family edition of the shoe in solid red nubuck. Details on the intriguing red version of the Nique Pump have been kept well under wraps since the black pair released, making it seem pretty certain that this friends & family colorway will never see a retail release. A few fortunate individuals were able to get their hands on a pair, but for most people, the closest you’ll ever get to them is a look at these pics. However, for one lucky Sneaker News reader, that will all change, as a pair of the red friends & fam Packer x Nique Pumps will be up for grabs as our latest sneaker giveaway. And it gets even better, because not only are these kicks super rare, but this particular size 9 pair has been autographed by none other than Dominique Wilkins himself, making these an amazing collector’s piece for any sneakerhead. Continue reading for complete instructions on how to enter the giveaway for your chance to win yourself the autographed F&F Nique Pump.
