The SneakersNStuff team ended their year of Reebok collabs with quite a bang. Their last model, the SNS x Reebok Shaqnosis “Tribute”, is one that tells Shaq’s story by means of a set of different stripes referencing the different teams he palyed on in the NBA. But they weren’t content with their project until they delivered a pair to Shaq himself. What result was a jaunt from Sweden to Atlanta to track down the big man-and they actually managed to record the culmination of their journey. Continue reading to see what went down and let us know if you’re searching for Shaq as well.

Although the basic concept had been introduced decades earlier, the signature basketball shoe as we know it really didn’t come into its own until the NBA’s glorious 1980s-90s era. Once Nike upped the ante with their mega-successful Air Jordan line, it didn’t take long before almost all of the league’s top stars had endorsement deals and their own shoe line with one brand or another. And while in most cases, players had a number of different personalized models over the years, there’s usually one or two for each guy that overshadow all the rest when we think back on what they wore during their careers.

A hair over nineteen years ago, at the start of Shaquille O’Neal’s third NBA season, his second rap LP Shaq Fu: Da Return hit store shelves.  The album included a guest spot from fellow Newark, NJ native Redman, a collaboration that had its own ‘return’ recently when the veteran emcee showed up in a promo video for Shaq’s latest RBK Classics release.  The ‘Brick City’ Reebok Shaq Attaq was created in tribute to their shared hometown, a black and grey colorup with red accents and speckling on the midsole that offers an homage to one of America’s notoriously gritty cities.  They just hit select retailers, so check out some more photos below, then pick up the latest Shaq Attaq at stores like Sneaker Bistro.
