Reebok Zig Encore ‘Beyond the Gold’

The timing of the NBA’s labor resolution was absolutely perfect, a deal to save an entire season that still preserved the league’s biggest annual television showcase.  Nike Basketball was emphasizing college hoops while the lockout endured, but were ready with Christmas Day 2011 PEs once a deal got done, and it sorta seemed like all the stars were aligned for a new era of labor peace in the Association.  But one guy whose timing has been a bit disrupted by the shortened regular season is Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, who expected to debut his Reebok Zig Encore ‘Beyond the Gold’ a bit earlier in the season.  These shiny golden Zig Encores are the follow-up to last November’s ZigTech Slash ‘Gold Rush’, and are similarly being held for Wall’s first game of the season in New York.  But unlike last year when that went down during the first week, the Wiz won’t venture up I-95 to Madison Square Garden until April; will you be on call for a lineup whenever the 12-pair briefcase-bound drop is scheduled?  Click through to see more of the ‘Beyond the Gold’ Zig Encore and stick with Sneaker News for the release date.  via Dime

reebok zig encore kentucky 1 Reebok Zig Encore LE University of Kentucky Available

It must be nice to have big name sneaker companies vying for your attention via school-specific colorways. The University of Kentucky has been getting a lot of that lately, with the Nike LeBron 9 and now this new colorway of John Wall’s signature sneaker the Reebok Zig Encore shown here. Wall seems better equipped to pay homage since he played ball there and all, and this navy/white colorway does the trick quite nicely. The leather look gets unique graphics on both sides of the shoe, of course sitting on top of the instantly recgonizable Zig sole. Let us know who did the look best and pick up this Reebok Zig Encore LE from Eastbay now.

Now that the NBA’s owners and players have finally decided it’s in everybody’s best interest to get back to basketball, we’re starting to get wind of possible free agent signings and trade rumors.  The most titilating tidbit so far is the discussion of a Chris Paul for Rajon Rondo deal, but wouldn’t John Wall joining the Los Angeles Lakers be every bit as sensational?  But fear not, Washington Wizards fans; this purple and gold accented Reebok Zig Encore isn’t likely a sign of things to come for your spectacularly talented sophomore, but rather, a look back at his tenure at Raleigh, NC’s Word of God Christian Academy.  Click through to get a better look at this suede-toed Zig Encore and let us know how they rank against the other colorways we’ve seen before you grab a pair from PYS.

Reebok Zig Encore – John Wall Washington Wizards PE

The lone RBK representative in Foot Locker’s unbalance-your-budget supercommittee known as ‘The Black Pack’ was John Wall’s latest signature in a blackout colorway, but here’s one you’d be more likely to see on court at the Verizon Center, were it not for that pesky BRI dispute.  The Reebok Zig Encore has probably never been more eye-catching than this new Washington Wizards PE colorway, a look that connects with the past thanks to the appearance of piping along its high-contrast colorway, yet one that’s very obviously born of this current synthetics-embracing era.  Click through to see details including one newly added on the medial ankle that might turn out to be a historical inaccuracy; surely that would make sample pairs like this one instantly more valuable.  via SoleAwesome

Foot Locker ‘Kicksmas’ – Black Friday ‘Black Pack’

foot locker kicksmas black friday black pack 1 Foot Locker Kicksmas Black Friday Black Pack

It is with good reason that the period between mid-November and the end of each calendar year is commonly called the ‘holiday season’.  So many of the world’s local cultures have contributed to a melange of occasions suitable for celebrating, and the one that starts off the annual spike in retail sales starts later this week in the United States.  But even if coming together during the winter results in increased sales, getting the major sneaker brands to cooperate is a task on the order of creating world peace.  So Foot Locker‘s ‘Black Pack’ for Black Friday not only launches the store’s Kicksmas celebration in earnest, but it also manages the ambitious coordination of releases from adidas Basketball, Jordan Brand, Nike Basketball and Nike Sportswear.  Dark colorways of the adidas adiZero Power Howard and adiZero Rose 2.0 join the Air Jordan III Retro ‘Black Cement’, Jordan 1 Flight in the same colorway, triple-black Nike LeBron 9s, Zoom Hyperdunk and Hyperfuse 2011s, the Total Air Foamposite Max also in black/anthracite, and John Wall’s Reebok Zig Encore.  Last but not least is the ‘Binary Blue’ Zoom Rookie LWP, a model presumably included because it’s the darkest colorway on a model that has no ‘blackout’ edition (yet?).  It’s a mouthful and enough to drain your wallet, and even if FL’s best wishes come true, it’s unlikely anyone will seek to complete this ‘pack’; so which ones are the must-haves?

Reebok Zig Encore ‘Beyond the Gold’ – Teaser

November 18th, 2011 by | 2 comments

reebok beyond the gold teaser 1 Reebok Zig Encore Beyond the Gold Teaser

One of the worst crimes perpetrated by those responsible for the NBA lockout is our inability to see if John Wall can come through like another one-and-done star from a Calipari-coached white and blue-wearing university in the Mid-Atlantic.  Without a full regular season, it seems even less likely that Wall could beat Derrick Rose’s insane three-year ROY-to-MVP career path, but that won’t stop the progression of his RBK signature series.  The Reebok Zig Encore ‘Beyond the Gold’ can be seen as a follow-up to last year’s lockbox’d special edition ‘Gold Rush’ Zig Slashes, and judging by the matte black briefcases, these Zig Encores bring along with them the promise of a new JW3 logo.  Now if we could only get them on court at the Verizon Center . . . but even if the NBA’s nuclear winter temporarily extinctifies pro basketballers in the USA, these should arrive on time as a limited release next month.  Check them out in more images after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for the Zig Encore ‘Beyond the Gold’ release date.  via HorsemanNumber3
