John Wall missed the first half of the 2012-13 NBA season with a knee injury, and all the Synvisc-One in the world couldn’t keep his latest Reebok signature moving at retail.  RBK went so far as to reorganize its brand strategy toward classics and away from performance basketball after Wall left for parent company adidas in January, but here’s a look at his last Vector brand sigs done in a familiar style from the 1990s.  The Reebok Zig Escape Blacktop Edition hearkens back to the streetball-focused sublabel that earned RBK some street cred before Allen Iverson arrived.  This pair features a high-contrast Kentucky Wildcats-leaning colorway and a new aggressive texture on the mudguard; click through to have a closer view and let us know if this is the best Zig Escape to date.

Reebok ZigEscape “Digi Camo”

adidas AG has seen its basketball divisions decimated by injuries in the past year, with Three Stripes losing Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard for long periods and Reebok losing their key star when John Wall went down with a bad knee. Wall recently expressed some fear that he might not make it back for the entire season, and with the Wizards continuing to struggle in his absence, this new Reebok Zig Escape might be the brightest point of the 2012-13 schedule. Check out its sort of digi-camo look reminiscent of the recent UNC Carrier Classic designs after the jump, and if you like what you see, you can grab yours at RBK retailers like Finish Line.

Reebok John Wall Zig Escape Samples

reebok john wall zig escape samples 1 Reebok John Wall Zig Escape Samples

Just how much potential has John Wall’s third Reebok signature sneaker shown in its early preview stages?  How about comparing last year’s lottery-bound Flip Saunders-axing stumble of a season to a playoff appearance in the newly reinvigorated Eastern Conference?  Put simply, the Reebok Zig Escape is the most aesthetically pleasing JW11 sig yet, and that’s thanks to both an improved upper design and more expressive colorways than the Slash or Encore.  Today we have some seriously impressive Zig Encore samples that include a pixelated UNC-meets-Space Invaders getup, one offering a cartoonish blast in colors reminiscent of the original Wiz uniforms, a third USA colorup that could be a preview of gold medals to come for the soon-to-turn 22 year-old point guard, and a native blend that couples monochromatic patterns with a colorful sockliner and gum rubber sole.  Wall’s trademark RBKs seem to have made ‘the leap’ and coincide with a strong rebound for the Vector brand; examine a huge gallery of each design after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for US release info.

Reebok is enjoying the success of Allen Iverson’s retros as a key part of their recent push back into the sneakerhead leading wave, but the brand’s recent roundball symposium seemed to distance RBK from its late ’90s/early ’00s rebellious image.  The tagline “Traning Day IS Game Day” stands in stark contrast to openly questioning the value of ‘Practice?!’, which is to say that young stars like John Wall have learned that success in today’s NBA requires that ultimate dedication.  Wall’s third RBK signature, the Reebok Zig Escape was crafted in an Olympic Rings-ish colorup to commemorate the Reebok Basketball Summit; how do they compare to the other colorways we’ve already seen, or Iverson’s retros for that matter?  Let us know after you’ve had a chance to see more below and stick with Sneaker News for upcoming Zig Escape release info.

Reebok Wall Zig Escape

That John Wall watches from home while fellow University of Kentucky Wildcat one-and-doner Anthony Davis plays valuable minutes for Team USA in London is more a testament to the New Dream Team’s guard-heavy small-leaning talent overload than a reflection of their disparity in NCAA Championships.  Reebok knows Wall is an elite talent even if he was overshadowed by Blake Griffin in his ‘rookie’ year or suffered a ‘stuck’ sophomore season with a medicore-at-best Washington Wizards squad.  Their new Reebok Zig Escape marks the third John Wall signature release under the Vector, and this one offers a more luxurious approach than we’ve seen on either the Slash or Encore.  Whether its name hints at JW11′s free agent intentions or just marks the departure from the busy ‘piping’ that covered his previous sigs, things are looking up for the Wall x Reebok partnership, and you can see the latest product in a few new colorways after the jump.  Photos: HOOPmag

reebok john wall zig escape season 3 Reebok Zig Escape John Wall Season 3

Reebok Basketball’s lone star athlete John Wall will enter his third NBA season later this year – will he be able to Escape the depths of the NBA Lottery and lead the Washington Wizards to a Playoff berth? The Wizards are definitely among the most talked-about teams this offseason for their impressive roster-revamp; they’ve added Emeka Okafor to battle down low alongside Nene, bolstered the swingman position with Trevor Ariza, and drafted Bradley Beal of Florida to help out in the backcourt. It seems the Wizards made all the right moves toward Playoff contention, but the future of the Wizards truly lies on the shoulders of John Wall, who will debut the Reebok Zig Escape later this year. The Zig midsole returns with a dazzling upper that anyone will quickly attribute to the Reebok Kamikaze and an exterior lacing system that gives the Zig Escape a sportier look. Another tonal-black colorway is available for preview below, so take a look and we’ll keep you updated on more of the Wall’s third signature shoe with Reebok. Photos: ult
