Most of you know ROM as one of the best sneaker customizers (particularly the Dunk High) out on the scene, but he also has the ability to transfer his artistry from the sneakers to the canvas. In fact, his talent was probably first placed on a canvas first, as seen on these various sneaker-inspired artworks that include an MVP-styled LeBron, the Red Toro IV, Yeezys, and more. We’ve got a nice crop of some of his incredible work below, so give it a look and head to his official website to learn more about him and to check out his other works.

Dunk custom extraordinaire ROM hits us with a new piece of art designed after the Nike LeBron 9 designed by Miami-based artist Freegums. Using a Black/White base, ROM applies Freegums’ graphics on the upper with sharp black strokes (the LeBron 9 version had it lightly layered above in white), with black croc-skin customization on the upper. There’s a Dunk Low as well so check out this gallery of ROM’s latest Dunk customs below and head to his webstore to cop your own.

Air Yeezy 2 + Air Mag Sneaker Hypebeast Art by ROM

What exactly is a hypebeast? It’s a term that’s been around for over a decade and happens to be the name of a well-respected urban culture/streetwear e-publication, but it isn’t necessarily used as a term of endearment. If anyone can remember those ‘hypebeast’ drawings from 2004 and beyond (an annual piece-by-piece detail of such an individual), you’d be well aware that a hypebeast is an uncontrollable animal feasting on whatever is ‘hot’ in materialism – mired in a cycle of ‘following’ and perhaps devoid of individual taste.

According to artist and sneaker customizer ROM The World, two sneakers that might’ve coerced the inner extreme hypebeast is the Air Yeezy 2 and the Nike Mag 2011; using his distinct style, ROM has created two awesome pieces of artwork titled the Yeezy 2 Hypebeast and Air Mag Hypebeast, in which he transforms the sneakers into rabid creatures ready to devour anything hype-worthy in sight. Do you agree with ROM’s assessment that the Mags and Yeezy 2s are the most hyped sneakers in recent memory? Check out full shots of his work below (it’s worth hypebeasting over) and let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Nike LeBron 9 ‘Freegums All-Over’ Customs by ROM

nike lebron 9 freegums all over customs by rom 1 Nike LeBron 9 Freegums All Over Customs by ROM

The Freegums collabo design stands among the LeBron 9′s most visually impressive colorways, one so detailed they’re a steep challenge for today’s popular color-swap custom artists.  Gourmet Kickz tried his hand back in February and came up with something that might even be more eye-catching than the original, and now a guy who’s building a reputation for some of the custom market’s most ingenious designs has offered his perspective.  The ROM Nike LeBron 9 ’Freegums All-Over’ is the opposite of GK’s in terms of its color/pattern blocking, and this pair’s large black and white sweeps give it an overall cleaner look while still thoroughly examining its inspiration.  Are these the best LeBron 9 customs we’ve seen on Sneaker News?  Click through to see a bunch more images and let us know what you think with a comment.

Nike Dunk High ‘UNDRDG’ Customs by ROM

UNDRDG dunk 6 570x425 Nike Dunk High UNDRDG Customs by ROM

Sneaker customizer Martin Figueroa-Ramirez is better known around these parts as ROM thanks to a range of work on the Nike Dunk High and Low silhouettes that push the boundaries of creativitiy in today’s homage-heavy custom culture.  But now that he’s an established force in the custom game, ROM has seemingly switched his focus to applying that same level of detail and attention to the hottest trend going: colorway swaps.  Following up on the Air Jordan VI-inspired LeBron 8 ‘Oreo’ comes the Nike Dunk High ‘UNDRDG’, a military-themed look inspired by the UNDFTD x Air Jordan IV that manages to go even further than the legendary original by adding the AJIII’s signature Elephant print to the toebox and eyestay.  Given the reputation of the UNDFTD AJ4s as one of the all-time grails, we won’t even ask if these are better than their muse, but how does ROM‘s latest stack up against one of the best loved non-bred Jays ever?  Click through to see the battle ready metal case and let us know if you’ll be bidding when these 1 of 1s go on sale next Monday, February 13th.

NIke LeBron 8 ‘Oreo’ Customs by ROM

nike lebron 8 oreo customs by rom 1 570x427 NIke LeBron 8 Oreo Customs by ROM

This year’s LeBron James signature from Nike Basketball hasn’t drawn as many color swap customs as the first of last year’s trio, and you know the Nike LeBron 8 is a favorite for sneaker artists when you see them pop up with a new rendition nearly a year after the debut.  The Eights aren’t old enough to be ready for any kind of retro run, so seeing this kind of longevity suggests we’re looking at a model that may emerge as historically significant for sticking around so long.  This new ‘Oreo’ LeBron 8 custom by Dunk specialist ROM for notable YouTube sneakerhead Dubstepslap415 departs from his typically intricate detailing, though you can see the attention paid to this simplest of high-contrast designs with the careful application of speckling on the midsole and Flywire panels.  Like his only other LeBron 8 customs, these are a 1 of 1 which is quite a bit smaller than the run of 2010 Air Jordan VIs upon which this design was based.  Let us know if you’d buy them when you click through to see more photos, and where they rank amongst ROM‘s own customs and the apparently still growing bounty of custom LeBron 8s.  via Hypemagnet
