RONNIE FIEG Ronnie Fieg is a NYC based designer most known for his long-standing collaborations with Asics, particularly on their Gel Lyte III silhouette. Fieg began his career with New York footwear institution David Z. and has since gone on to establish his own KITH line of brick and mortar shops, with one location in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn.

So the nickname for Ronnie Fieg’s latest Asics collaborative project is ‘High Risk’–roughly the opposite of the probability of any pairs remaining available more than minutes after the release. One of the sickest examples on record of a ‘Toronto Raptors’ color scheme, this luxurious suede and leather Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT-II is the latest example in a long line of this guest designer’s low-key masterworks. Ronnie Fieg is back working on the Asics GT-II in the form of the Asics GT-II ‘High Risk’ previewed here. The sneaker is actually one that we first showed you just under a year ago, one that was presumably doomed to sample purgatory given the prolonged hiatus. Such is not the case, and the sneakers will indeed be releasing soon according to the Instagram of Fieg. If you’ve been paying attention to Ronnie Fieg’s Asics output for a while then you should recognize this Asics Gel Lyte III sample that he pulled out today. The olive and orange pair was sampled up a couple of years ago and dubbed the Asics Gel Lyte III ‘Mossad’. While they never had a proper release, there was a pair given away on Twitter when they first surfaced. In this image Kith’s head man is holding a never before seen pair of the Asics Gel Lyte III with an almost ‘Knicks’ look to it. Ronnie Fieg’s retail output with Asics has stayed pretty close to the Gel-equipped lineup of sneakers, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t put his hands on some other tiger striped models during his time in the footwear business. The instant sell-out sneakers were a hard grab as per usual thanks to the constantly growing Fieg-fanbase. Ronnie Fieg is teaming up with Asics for yet another silo that will be rather hard to get your hands on the: the Asics Gel Lyte III ‘Super Green’. They’ll be tough to grab because, at this point, the sneaker is a charity release that will be distributed to citizens in Haiti. 300 pairs of this very special Asics Gel Lyte III have been produced in conjunction with the Sole for Souls project in order to help bring proper footwear to those in need.
