Jordan Brand Signs Russell Westbrook

jordan brand russell westbrook Jordan Brand Signs Russell Westbrook

All the recent headlines involving Dwyane Wade and his ground-breaking partnership with Li-Ning has only emphasized the gaping hole left in the Jordan Brand roster of athletes. The failure of the Wade/JB marriage was pretty straightforward; poor sales, unenthusiastic designs, and a general indifference from consumers deemed a furthering of the partnership nonsensical, but the brand that Michael built is ready to move forward in another direction. Jordan Brand has just added Oklahoma City Thunder superstar guard Russell Westbrook to its roster of athletes, joining Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul to replenish the ‘Big Three’; Russell, who has quickly made a name for himself as the undisputed high-flying NBA Guard, played alongside Melo and CP3 during the London Olympics, helping the team win Gold in dominant fashion, and also has deep Playoff and NBA Finals experience.

This exciting development might not have come as surprising news to some, because not only was Westbrook spotted in Air Jordans during NBA Media Day, but he also wore the Jordan Super.Fly during last night’s pre-season match-up against the Houston Rockets. We’re excited to see what Jordan Brand has in store for Russell, so while the full details of this connection hasn’t been released, stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates on this newfound partnership and let us know if you think Russell will have more success as a brand representative than his predecessor.

NBA Feet: 2012 Finals Game 4 Recap

2012 nba finals game 4 4 NBA Feet: 2012 Finals Game 4 Recap

It took four games for the OKC Thunder to start a game off strong, but their big lead would last just one quarter as Miami pulled back and took control at the half. From there, it was all Heat, with the OKC Thunder barely staying above water thanks to Russell Westbrook‘s monster performance. However, it was a Chris Webber-like late-game falter by Westbrook himself that sealed the deal for Miami, who now owns a dominant (although not indomitable) 3-1 series lead. LeBron played the role of point-guard last night, dishing out major dimes to role players and scoring big down the stretch despite a leg injury, but will LeBron officially join the NBA Championship club this Thursday night, or does Durant and OKC have what it takes to win one in South Beach and bring it back to the Chesapeake Arena? 2012 nba all star game NBA Feet: 2012 NBA All Star Game

The 2012 NBA All-Stars were ready for lift-off in Orlando as they left the crowd in a daze with spectacular dunks, unthinkable passes, and of course, a series of sneakers that left us startled and thoroughly impressed. Sneaker News has been keeping you up to date with all the 2012 All-Star kicks by showing you the official All-Star team photos and portraits and a preview of the ‘Galaxy’ PE’s, but there’s nothing better than to see them in action. Starting with the East, LeBron James showed off his radiant orange LeBron 9s, while teammate Dwyane Wade went with the Air Jordan 2012 with the royal blue bootie (switching to the Fly Wade 2 for the second half). Carmelo Anthony wore his All-Star PE of the Melo M8, while East starters and adidas Basketball pillars Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard showed off their neon orange PEs. Andre Iguodala’s Nike Zoom Hyperenforcer PE got a lot of attention (especially with his lefty windmill in the first half), and Rajon Rondo recorded the second All-Star on-feet moment of the Galaxy Foams. Both Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard switched up their PEs, going with the hot orange in the first half and changing up in the second to different Royal and Grey PEs.

Out West, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant provided waves of scoring while rocking their Nike Basketball signatures. Clippers star Chris Paul hooked up with teammate Blake Griffin on several occasions, flashing the CP3.V and Hyperdunk 2011 ‘Galaxy’ in the process. Russell Westbrook dunked his way into the spotlight with his golden ‘Galaxy’ PE of the Zoom Hyperenforcer, while Tony Parker and Steve Nash dished and swished with the Zoom Brave V and Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Low. Kevin Love, the 3-point champion, brought Peak to the ASG with his 361-degrees PE. The game itself was filled with spectacular moments; the East came back from a huge deficit to take the game down to the last shot, while teammate Dwyane Wade recorded the third triple-double in All-Star Game history. Kobe Bryant got his nose bloodied for a short moment while becoming the highest-scoring All-Star in history, while Kevin Durant bloodied the entire East squad by pouring in 36 points and taking home the All-Star Game MVP award. All in all, the 2012 NBA All-Star Game was one of the best we’ve ever seen; great high-scoring action, exciting weekend events, pre-game and half-time performances, and of course, one of the best sneaker spreads ever to make it to an All-Star Game floor. Check out the entire 2012 NBA All-Star Game recap after the jump and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more NBA Feet features as the 2012 NBA season approaches the second half. via ESPN/Yahoo

Russell Westbrook’s Air Jordan III ‘True Blue’ Rollerskates

December 27th, 2011 by | 24 comments

air jordan iii true blue roller skates russell westbrook 1 Russell Westbrooks Air Jordan III True Blue Rollerskates

During the late 1980′s, the footwear scene in two popular sports would change forever. The Air Jordan III was created by Tinker Hatfield, re-routing the Air Jordan legacy into the astounding heights it is currently floating around today, and inline skates began to be mass-manufactured, making the 2×2 roller-skate set-up an official ‘Retro’ and vintage item. This funky pair of Air Jordan III Rollerskates in the ‘True Blue’ colorway was recently ‘flossed’ on the internet by a stern-faced Russell Westbrook, who backed up his photo with a claim that his skating skills are up there with his rock-dishing ability. You might remember that OG pair of the Nike Killshot roller-skates we showed you on Sneaker News before, but you would you consider rocking Air Jordan Retro rollerskates to your local roller derby?
