While plenty of US shops have cranked out collabs with the likes of Saucony over the past couple years, none has done so with the same frequency as Boston’s Bodega. They’re at it again this Spring-readying for the release of three more silhouettes. The models include the G9 Shadow 6, G9 Control, and G9 Control “Captain Purp”-the last of which will be a Bodega exclusive with just 85 pairs made. Boston’s Bodega has mastered the art of crafting premium Saucony classics so thoroughly that recent efforts extend into hybrid-making. The new Bodega x Saucony G9 Control represents the fusion of Master Control upper and Grid 9000′s super-cushioned sole, the latest rendition of which is another fine example of Bodega pairing pink/red and blue/purple shades around a neutral base. So while we’ve nto seen one exactly like this before, the basics have been established; how does that level of familiarity compare to something like the new tiger camo G5s, then grab one of the 600-pair limited run available at select retailers including Up There.

The partnership between Bodega and Saucony will remain strong in 2013, with at least five more styles on deck from the runner brand and the Boston based boutique. Included in the forthcoming collection of Saucony Elite models are the Saucony G9 Shadow 5, the Saucony G9 Shadow 6, and the Saucony G9 Control. The group carries on upgrading some of Saucony’s most well established silhouettes with everything from speckles to camo to leopard print. After Bodega put in plenty of working bringing some lost Saucony gems back into the spotlight they’ve now had the opportunity to tweak those styles a bit, coming up with the hybridized G9 Series. The set features the Shadow 5000, 6000 and Master Control, all of which have been redone on the bottom half with the instantly recognizable sole of the Saucony Grid 9000. Bodega helped to resurrect Saucony’s status in the sneakerhead community with their elegant Elite collaborative line, and now the Boston-based boutique furthers its Frankenstein experiments by applying one of the collection’s best soles to three different designs. Based on the Grid 9000‘s exceptionally bouncy and comfortable sole setup, the Bodega x Saucony G9 collection brings together the Shadow 5000, 6000 and Master Control in unique colorways reminiscent of earlier teamups.
