Lest you get to thinking that the North American folks are the only ones crafting collabs with Saucony, Anteater has a version of the Saucony Jazz Original coming. It’s not their first, but if you’re not familiar with that Russian label then this collab is just as good an introduction as any. The Saucony silo dons some earthy tones across the upper together with that they’re calling “snow suede”, which gets almost hairy with its texture. You saw some Saucony collab drops pay homage to the history of tech and trail sneakers recently, but as of now they’re taking a sharp left turn and getting decidedly more earthy with this group produced in conjunction with White Mountaineering. The silhouette selected is the Saucony Jazz O, with the colorways applied to each pair in the trio pretty toned down from what we’re used to seeing from the line, along with some patterned tongue labels that give them that sort of warm and fuzzy outerwear appeal. White Mountaineering is a brand that you might know from following the fashion blogosophere, yet they’re still sufficiently low key that but a single mention has ever graced the pages of Sneaker News. The Vans Mountain Edition was an obvious choice given its name, and perhaps you could make the same case for this new trio of White Mountaineering x Saucony Jazz O runners. Improvising three uniquely constructed designs, we see a call-and-response as each pair differs by one degree from the ones next to it, yet each blend together for a cohesive pack feel while each offers a fairly wide range of wardrobe options.
