The latest round of Bodega x Saucony Elite releases has just touched down and this fifth set is true to form when considering the previous entries. The name of the game here is rich suede in eye-catching vintage colorways on some of the ‘other’ New England running specialists’ best silouhettes. We’ll start with the most recent of these classics, the Saucony Grid 9000, which replicates one of last round’s blocking schemes with the nubby ankle collar, but goes further toward the brown/neutral side of the palette compared to last pair’s bluer look. They’re joined by the Master Control in a bold three-color kit we showed you a few weeks back as well as the above pictured Jazz ’91 mashup in several shades of blue plus golden heels. Click through to see each one up close and expect these at select Saucony retailers like Foot Patrol in early February.

They might not have as many models in the vault or narratives connecting those classics to today’s market, but Bodega’s Saucony Elite releases have managed to capture a corner of the sneakerhead market even during a time when there are more retro runners available than ever before. How did they manage to carve such a niche without most of the cutting edge gimmicks and hype? Sheer quality. All of the Saucony Elite releases have featured lush suede in rich yet rustic colors, and this new Saucony Elite Master Control is no exception. Split between glass blue and brick red with just a hint of rusty orange on the heel, these Master Control lowtops nail the vintage look with a cream colored midsole and gum bottoms, and suggest that this top-tier collaborative capsule has enough momentum to keep going strong into the next year. Thanks to the impressive Elite series collaborations with Boston’s Bodega, Saucony has pushed its way back into the classic running space in recent months. More goodies from this collection and the broader Saucony Originals line were on display at the recent Bread & Butter tradeshow, and it has been rare to look at such a large collection and leave with the feeling that such a large percentage of them were must-haves. Suede-and-mesh devotees will find it hard to choose amongst such a high quality set, so click through to see more angles of models like the Saucony Grid 9000, let us know which ones you like best and stick with Sneaker News for the US release dates. via Street Supply
