Continuing the Watchmen Series of sneaker customs by Sekure D is this Air Jordan IX inspired by Night Owl; this edition is certainly one of the more toned-down customs that Sekure D has completing, opting for a more tonal vibe to accentuate Night Owl’s brown and gold uniform. Sekure D confirms a sixth custom to represent Silk Spectre – the final member of The Watchmen, and a seventh mystery shoe to close out the set, so while we wait for that, be sure to get your hands on these eclusive pairs as the release will go down at the Sekure D online store on Friday, 4PM and in Melbourne on Saturday, 8AM.

sekured soles4souls charity auctions Sekure D x Soles4Souls Custom Sneaker Charity Auctions

Soles4Souls is a global charity based in Nashville, TN that collects shoes from large-scale warehouses of footwear companies and small-time closets from local collectors – like you. Their goal is to put new and gently used footwear on the feet of those in need, and to date, over 19 million pairs have been put in good use by people in over 125 countries. Ronnie Fieg recently did his part by creating 300 pairs of the ‘Super Green’ and delivering them to the less fortunate in Haiti, and Australia-based sneaker customizer Sekure D is getting in the mix by presenting a collaborative charity auction series featuring his own custom sneaker designs. He’ll be putting up over twenty of his own personal customs, with half of all proceeds going to the Soles4Souls charity; preview all the shoes below, and once you’re finished, check out all the auctions right now from SekureDxSoles4Souls on eBay.

Air Jordan VII “Ozymandias” Customs by Sekure D

air jordan vii ozymandias custom Air Jordan VII Ozymandias Customs by Sekure D

Superheros continue to be one of the most popular muses in the world of custom sneakers. Sekure D has been concerned with a group of dudes more in the graphic-novel world than the comic book one as of late: The Watchmen. A little bit spaced out from the rest of his work in the same vein is this Air Jordan VII ‘Ozymandias’ after that scheming fellow also known as Adrian Veidt. The pair very much mimics his outfit from the purple sections to the gold used that channels his vaguely Egyptian vibe. Continue reading for a gallery on the Air Jordan VII ‘Ozymandias’ and tell us in the comments if you think this Sekure D piece is a proper tribute.

Air Jordan VI “Comedian” Customs By Sekure D

air jordan vi comedian 2 Air Jordan VI Comedian Customs By Sekure D

Next up in Sekure D‘s capsule of The Watchmen x Air Jordan Custom creations goes to The Comedian – the superhero who set the entire Watchmen plot in motion. Using the Air Jordan VI as the base, Sekure D captures Comedian’s signature features like the star and red/white stripes on the upper, with the bloody smiley-face and red rose on the heel. The Watchmen Series is seriously unlike any other comic book saga that has developed over the last half-century; the entire series was much shorter than most, and the underlying themes of human morality and world perception have made The Watchmen one of the most analyzed cult-hits in pop culture. Sneaker customizer Sekure D himself calls The Watchmen his favorite, so we can definitely expect him to continue on with his tribute via Air Jordan customs!

Air Jordan IV “Rorschach” Customs By Sekure D

air jordan iv sekure d rorschach Air Jordan IV Rorschach Customs By Sekure D

Sekure D continues to slowly unveil his Air Jordan “Watchmen” Customs by showing us the second design of the bunch inspired by Rorschach, arguably the most noticeable of the group. Rorschach is known for his rather unsettling visage – a white mask with black blottings that creates the face of Rorschach. Sekure D uses that pattern to paint the upper of the custom, while using brown (Rorschach’s trench coat) for the mudguard and purple (his slacks) at the forefoot of the midsole. We should certainly expect more Watchmen customs from Sekure D (but if he doesn’t have any plans yet, he should definitely get going), so check out the gallery below and let us know how these compare to his Doctor Manhattan customs!

Air Jordan IV “Dr. Manhattan” Customs By Sekure D

air jordan iv dr manhattan customs by sekure d 1 Air Jordan IV Dr. Manhattan Customs By Sekure D

Funny bit of info (pulled from the ‘front page of the internet’ known as reddit): a major film studio passed on producing ‘The Watchmen’ live action film because the studio’s execs believed the script was, to put it nicely, not very good. Despite the massive budget that went into filming, ‘The Watchmen’ was still a success, in that it made a hefty profit at the box office, and today continues to be considered as a ‘cult hit’ despite its rather large box office draw. Sekure D of Australia calls himself a ‘monstrously big Watchmen fan’, so for those who share that sentiment, the inspiration behind this Air Jordan IV custom is rather obvious; he uses Dr. Manhattan’s blue-ish tones for the upper with his ‘atom’ logo at the toe, with NYC-style graffiti and the infamous ‘Who watches The Watchmen?” phrase on the tongue to give the shoe some unique flavor. Check out the gallery of this sick custom below and if you want to cop The Watchmen, get them now directly from Sekure D’s online shop.

nike dunk low what the sekure customs Nike Dunk Low What the Sekure? Customs by Sekure D

Color-swap customs are the hottest trend in sneaker customization today, but this is an art form that reached today’s heights on the wings of unique designs by legendary artists like Nash Money and SBTG.  Australia’s Sekure D could easily etch his own face into that Mt. Rushmore, a guy who’s crafted so many custom Dunks over the years that he could put his own spin on the infamous ‘What the Dunk’ mashup that foreshadowed the recent trend toward hybrid design.  This custom Nike Dunk Low ’What the Sekure?’ combines a huge variety of D’s handiwork into one design whose cohesion is a testament to the artist’s eye for arrangement, and they’ll be available from his e-store starting Monday.
