Sneaker Con was back in town at the Fieldhouse at the Bank United Center in Miami, FL for yet another great showing of sneaker mania. Thousands gathered and 45 vendors set up shop to display their hot sneaker stashes (the Air Jordan PE table being an amazing showcase), and even Fat Joe, one of the originals of the sneaker game, came through to cop a pair of the Air Jordan II Melo for his own collection. Sneaker Con returned to the Nation’s Capitol for a third term this past weekend, and after yet another successful showing stacked with vendors and paterons, you can count on a fourth trip sometime soon. Foams were on deck, Air Jordans were aplenty, adidas Originals set up a sick pop-up exhibit, and one Sneaker Con event-goer pretty much won the day with his Nike Mag 2011 and matching Nike Footwear barrel shoebox (available via auction only). This is one ‘Decision’ that won’t hurt too many feelings: Sneaker Con announces another return to Miami as the greatest buy/sell/trade sneaker event of its kind returns to South Beach for a third overall event. No city is filled with more excitement right now than Miami is, so be sure to make it out to the Fieldhouse at the Bank United Center at the University of Miami on August 4th to partake in what’s already established as the go-to sneaker event in the nation. The wait won’t be too long either, as this particular version of Sneaker Con Washington DC will go down on July 28th, 2012, just over three weeks out. Over the last few years, the mainstream media has been curiously exploring the sneaker culture and its rapid rise to popularity and exposure. Even CNBC, known primarily for their reports on finance and politics, dipped into sneakers as a potential investment opportunity and visited some major NY sneaker spots like Flight Club and Sneaker Con, giving the world unaware of sneakers a look into the fastest growing fashion-driven phenomenon. More recently, Fuse immersed itself into the biggest sneaker event in the city at the forefront of the sneaker movement toreport on the link between the sneaker community and hip-hop culture (a link that’s been around for decades). You made it out to Sneaker Con NYC this weekend right? As you undoubtedly know, just as exciting as scouring the vendor tables and various collections scattered about the room for rare pairs and the like is peeping what kind of gems other folks showed up in. And being that the show landed right in the the mecca of sneaker culture and all you can bet people came prepared, with the likes of the Nike Air Yeezy 2, plenty of awesome adidas Originals Jeremy Scott creations, a crisp pair of ‘Amsterdam’ Air Max 1′s, some Jason Negron sole-swap pairs, and much much more in attendance. The last Sneaker Con venue was bursting at the seams, as it could not contain the mass crowd that showed up to take part in the best sneaker event of its kind. So, the event moved uptown and a bit East as Sneaker Con took over a collegiate-sized gymnasium as Baruch College opened its doors to host the biggest NYC event in history! The gym was packed front to back with amazing vendors showing off their collections and with a special preview showcase of adidas Originals’ upcoming gear, and even a number of notable sneakerheads in the game popped through, like Ed Lover, Iman Shumpert of the New York Knicks, Jack Ballard of the New England Patriots, DJ Clark Kent, Mayor and All Day. The line was hundreds deep hours before the doors opened, but luckily the venue was large (and cool) enough to keep everyone comfortable in their kicks. Are you one of the thousands of NYCers heading out to Sneaker Con NYC this Saturday? Yeah, we thought so. Before Sneaker Con kicks off (in a much larger location, might we add), adidas Originals in SoHo is hosting a pre-party on Friday evening beginning at 7 PM. DJ Clark Kent will be on hand to spin live tunes, so not only will you get to see one of the sneaker game’s most involved members do his thing, you’ll get the opportunity to get your Sneaker Con tickets early – and free. All you need to do is make any (yes, any) purchase at the adidas Originals store and you’ll get free entry into Saturday afternoon’s event. Also, a purchase of $50 or more will net you the official Sneaker Con x adidas Originals t-shirt. All the event info is right below so take a look and don’t be a stranger Friday night or on Saturday!
