Another amazing week of Sneaker News is here, so let’s get this recap going! Starting off – Michael Jordan showed that he could still dunk at age 50. The younger stars in the NBA like LeBron, KD, and Kobe have no problem doing the same, but they certainly have some catching up to do with their respective sig shoes. LeBron and the LeBron 11 are ready to go, with a detailed beauty shots of the Red/Black joints and a new Nike ad in the works getting us excited for more. A wear-test sample of the Kobe 9 revealed some big changes for the next shoe, while the KD 6 continues to get some tasty buzz thanks to the PBJ colorway. The Red Air Yeezy 2 list of winners was publicized this week, while Nike went ahead and officially unveiled the Weatherman Pack, which features two Foamposites and the AF1 Low. Speaking of the latter, a new Realtree Camo option on NIKEiD was cause for excitement, while some new leopard-print Roshe joints kept the popular shoe as trendy as ever. Nike SB’s got some goodies on the way as well, like a set of shoes with Euro shop Poler.

adidas and Reebok aren’t shy with their retros, with Kobe’s ’97 Dunk Contest and Shaq’s childhood roots getting some of the spotlight with upcoming releases. New Balance cracked its way into the headlines with some upcoming MT580 releases. Vans and Supreme are poised to team up again, bringing in the legendary Bruce Lee in the mix. Wiz Khalifa’s collaboration with Converse was officially unveiled this week, while another Converse team-up with UNDFTD and CLOT was previewed as well. The sneaker custom category was a hit as usual thanks to the Corkposite, while the celebrities did their thing as per usual. From our nightly search for amazing eBay fans, we highlighted a dope Air Jordan XIII made for Quentin Richardson and a pair of Air Jordan III “Pit Crew” joints…without the Pit Crew logo. August is in full effect, and there’s no doubt that Nike Basketball has been dominating the game. The LeBron 11, Kobe 8, and KD 6 continue to be most buzzworthy shoes, with several headlines like “Miami Heat”, “Spark”, and “Chroma” serving up some great kicks to look forward. The Jordan category was as strong as ever, with detailed looks at the Laney V and the Gamma Blue XI getting the most attention. A nice look at the “Safari” Foamposite and upcoming Weather-inspired releases kept Foam fans happy, while Nike Sportswear came through with the Size? x Air Huarache and the OG Air Max Tape Pack. Nike SB has some nice collaborations in the works – namely Primitive LA and Thrasher.

adidas is coming back to its Originals with an upcoming Run DMC collaboration, while Reebok and AAPE come together for the Pump Fury. Asics has something great in the work with Extra Butter and Ronnie Fieg, while CNCPTS and New Balance get ready to put out another champion later this year. Vans presents the WTAPS collection and some nice Aloha joints. while the Air Force 1 gets the City Pack treatment again. Customs were big on Foamposites and LeBrons, as were Air Jordan Samples and PEs, highlighted by a dope blue-laser sample. August is here (time flies…) and Sneaker News is ready to tackle the new month of sick releases. Starting off, we wrapped up the entire month in shoes so you can plan out your expenditures. Jordan Brand updated all of its August drops, while previews of upcoming Bel Air and Oreo Air Jordan Vs had us excited for the end of the year. SN Select came through with four amazing features covering adidas, Asics, Jordan, and sneaker collections, while Foamposite headlines rolled through as we caught a detailed look at the Asteroid and Safari Foams. Celebs were doing their thing as well, with Bow Wow rocking Reeboks early yet again. The Kobe 8 continues to be a massive hit as a Yellow/Red colorway surfaced, while the N7 KD 6 displayed some clever use of reflective material.

Nike Sportswear came through with a bevy of headlines, led by the Air 180 Camo, Air Max 90 Tape “Infrared”, and another Size? collaboration. Nike SB finally unveiled Brian Anderson’s Project BA, while Vans celebrated 10 years of its Vault line with a great event in NYC. adidas Originals has some great things in the works, like the 9000 OG and another Teyana Taylor team-up, while Asics completed its latest Ronnie Fieg release. PEs were a big topic as well with Eddie Jones, Ray Allen, and Carmelo Anthony joining the mix. Sneaker News Weekly Rewind is here again, recapping the best news stories of the week. SN Select brought you four great stories, while the Air Jordan enjoyed a healthy week of previews of upcoming Retro drops. LeBron’s busy in Asia, but luckily a release date for the Championship Pack fell upon us. Some new Kobe 8s and KD VIs were worth noting, as was the interesting Safari Foamposites, which are scheduled for a late 2013 release. Nike SB got some love as we got a nice look at the upcoming Project BA, while Nike Sportswear in all categories came together for a week filled with great headlines. The influence of Sheed is still here, with two great Air Force 1 Highs getting revealed over the weekend, and the new Roshe renditions continue to reveal themselves as we get a first look at the Roshe Run HYP. BAIT’s collaboration with Reebok was a major story, as was adidas’ new adios 2 and Element Refine JS silhouettes.

New Balance kicked things off with a Beauty and Youth collab around the RevLite 996, while Vans hit up Slam City Skates for a clean and simple production. A lot of great Asics releases are beginning to hit stores, with darker tones hinting at the changing of the seasons. Celebrities came through with their on-feet selection, with none other than 49ers phenom Colin Kaepernick flaunting his bedrooms filled with sneakers. Custom sneakers were a major hit this week, with a remixed Kobe VI inspired by the Yeezy 2 gaining some notoriety. Air Jordan PEs were a big one as well, all of which were formerly in the ownership of former and current New York Knicks players. This week was a big one for Sneaker News, as we finally let loose our brand new Sneaker News Select channel. As you saw over the past couple of days, that spot on the site will be bringing you exclusive, original content like collab stories, insane collections, and behind the scenes Air Jordan news. Of course that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down the daily flow of news one bit. This week we kept you informed on Jordan Brand’s movements out in China, their plans for retro pricing in 2014, and the future of Melo’s line. Kevin Durant was out in China as well, a trip that coincided with the release his Nike KD VI “Bamboo”.

Kobe and LeBron had plenty of going on-the former getting an exciting NIKEiD upgrade to his sig and the latter getting ready for the release of his next. The celeb kicks category saw a few curveballs, as Patrick Ewing had us all nostalgic with his footwear choice and Kristen Wiig hit late night with a pair of Jordans. Nike Flyknit saw a huge boost thanks to the likes of the new Nike Flyknit Hyperfeel and the Nike Fyknit Free, both of which were rolled out at Nike’s latest Innovation Summit meeting in Beaverton. adidas dropped the much anticipated adidas Y-3 Qasa High urban Ninja shoe, Extra Butter slyly promised us some Asics heat, and Ronnie Fieg liberated the release date for his latest GLIII banger. J. Crew and New Balance got back in bed and Jason Dill’s profane Vans collab showed up a Supreme stores. Oh, and did we mention the biggest sneaker show ever hit NYC for the weeekend? As you struggled to deal with the reality of the work week following your extended 4th of July weekend, the Sneaker News time was hard at the grind, bringing you all the pressing news pieces in the footwear world. Kevin Durant had his fun with the Nike KD VI, now it’s time to shift over and see what the likes of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James have next up. For King James it’s the Nike LeBron XI, whose “Armory Slate” version popped up a couple of times, and the Nike LeBron XI NSW Lifestyle, which has some interesting animal versions in the works. Kobe 9 details remain slim, but we did get our first teaser this week. Oh, and we also got a whiff of a good group of Kobe 8s still to release-the Milk Snake, Graffiti, and more. Of course Mike’s sigs managed quite a few gasps as well, as the Air Jordan III showed of a killer, cool blue look as well as a Doernbecher retro.

The celebrity category was an interesting one, offering up everything from fallen child-stars rocking Jordans to a couple of lucky folks being seeded the likes of the Air Jordan “Fear Pack” ahead of the rest of them. The adidas Mutombo was all over the place, proving its versatility with some new, women’s exclusive colorways as well as a strapped up version. Ronnie Fieg remains tight lipped about his upcoming Asics Gel Lyte III collab but we went ahead and spoiled it, New Balance is teaming up with backback brand Herschel again, and Reebok continues to put their faith in the Swedes over at SneakersNStuff. That’s not all Reebok’s got going on-they also linked with it-skate brand PALACE and managed to squeeze in the release of the much anticipated Reebok Shaqnosis. While the entire nation was celebrating the biggest national holiday of the year, Sneaker News kept offering up some more sneaker headlines as we began the first month of the Fall 2013 season. We started with a thorough preview of the July 2013 Sneaker Releases, then continued with more Nike KD VI coverage, a look at two new Kobe 8 colorways, and some notable Reebok Retro releases in the Big Hurt and Blacktop II. Nike SB mad a ton of waves thanks to the upcoming Janoski previews and the release of the P-Rod 7, while Flyknit kept us intrigued with the Max Air and Free-soled varieties. Nike Sportswear had another big week as we saw the Solarsoft Moccasin get the trendy Floral treatment.

adidas and D Rose caught our attention with the Jeremy Scott collaboration and previews of the Rose 4.5, while New Balance got in the MLB All-Star scene with some nice Custom options for this month. Vans did a nice Pack-style collab with Alien Workshop, while an early sample of the CNCPTS x Gel Lyte III had us wondering about a release date (still not convifmed). Sneaker Con hit Miami this weekend, offering up the first round of availability of Li-Ning Way of Wades. Custom sneakers made a big splash as usual, and the Air Jordan PE/Sample collection spotted at an event out in Asia had readers flipping through.
