The Converse First String product line was fortified with this past weekend’s release of the Pro Leather, designed by the crew at Stussy New York. Using two colorways as a base foundation and livening it up with a unique patchwork of American-made materials and graphics, the Stussy x Converse Pro Leather exemplified Converse’s rebellious history with the chaotic organization of the patchwork of denims, corduroys, and plaids. All 125 pairs of the Stussy NYC x Pro Leathers that were released have been spoken for as they sold out quickly, but if you’re stilling looking for a pair, a few have popped up for sale, like this one from saveyoursoleworldwide on eBay.

stussy huaraches Classics Revisited: Stussy x Nike Air Huarache (2000)

Ladies and gentlemen – the first official sneaker collaboration of the 2000s. We can’t pass Nike Collaborations Week without giving props to the partnership that sparked the massive flame of the early part of the last decade, so for tonight’s Classics Revisited, let’s zero in on one of the hardest-to-find sneakers Stussy ever worked on – the Nike Air Huarache of 2000. The idea was pretty simple; Fraser Cooke of Nike hit up Michael Koppleman of Stussy to select a favorite running sneaker and create two great colorways, and what resulted was a no-frills product that started a trend of collaborations that only got more and more descript as the years went by. The shoes were released in the London chapter store in very limited quantities, but the Huaraches were obviously just the beginning of an unbreakable friendship, because Nike and Stussy followed up with ten more releases. Yes – ten: Dunks, Court Forces, Blazers – you name it, Stussy’s done it, and they’ve done it like none other. If you have the Stussy x Nike Air Huarache LE in your stash, you deserve major props.

Using an Americana-fashion inspired patchwork built with supreme materials, the Stussy x Converse First String Pro Leather matches two complementary concepts to convey the All-American message centered around Stussy’s NYC vibe. ‘Alakazam’ is one of those magical words that’s been attached to everything from Pokemon characters to Shaquille O’Neil feature films, and in this case, it refers to the special blend cast by British artists Will Sweeney and Ayako Terashima.  Stussy represents the East Coast by way of Japan for this latest world tour, with the Vans Era completing the revolution with a bit of West Coast cool.  Alakazam applies a unique three-toned accent scheme with serious 3-D overtones including an oscilloscope pattern that also plays a major role in the accompanying apparel and accessories.  Have a closer look after the jump, let us know how these rate compared to recent Vans collabos profiled here on Sneaker News and check back with us to see if these make it to US stores.

Classics Revisited: Stussy x Nike Dunk High (2001)

nike dunk high stussy 2001 Classics Revisited: Stussy x Nike Dunk High (2001)

What an amazing week it’s been for Dunk nuts worldwide! We’ve covered four of the more memorable Dunk Highs of all-time, starting with the UNDFTD No-Liners on Monday and hitting you with Wu-Tang fire yesterday. But no set of ‘best-of’ sneakers is complete without the inclusion of Stussy, the clothing label and urban culture anchor that paved the way for the many sneaker collaborations that followed, so in a way, we’re saving the best for last. This 2001 Dunk you see here was actually first ever collaboration between Nike and a clothing company (not to be confused with the Stussy x Nike Air Huarache of 2000 – a project between Nike and Michael Koppelman of Stussy UK); could the Stussy x Nike Dunk High be credited for setting the trend of sexy sneaker collabs of the 2000′s? Let’s take a look.

By 2001, the Dunk had grown to be a cult classic, gaining serious steam across the globe for its skate-friendly and Retro appeal. So, Nike decided to hit up Stussy yet again allowed them to give their own spin on the Dunk, composing two completely distinct colorways – a tonal black leather version and the Brown/Khaki we’re placing the spotlight on here. While both colorways were rather simple, they introduced exotic materials and specialty fabrics on the Swoosh – snakeskin on the Black colorway and ostrich on the Brown. The Stussy x Nike Dunk High was also a ‘test-run’ or experiment of sorts on extremely limited distributions; each of the four Stussy chapter stores (NYC, LA, Tokyo, London) released twenty-four pairs in total per day (twelve pairs per colorway) until the entire stock was depleted. This resulted in a stretch of 2+ weeks of line-ups every morning, setting the table for other ‘camp-outs’ for these limited-edition sneakers. Style, quality, concept, and trendsetting – the Stussy x Nike Dunk High had it all. Take a look at the extra looks below and stay tuned to Sneaker News as we hit you with yet another week of Classics Revisited treats!
