Owing at least in part to the popularity of the Air Jordan Legacy and MJ’s loyalty to the University of Carolina, soft blue shades have been common on all kinds of sneakers for quite a while. It’s easy to push these muted blues toward pastel or make them metallic the greyer they look, but considerably more rare to see the same attention given to equally capable shades of green. So if you like the look of sage but don’t want the saturation of a mint green, Supra has a new swamp thing we think you’ll love for sure. The Supra Swamp Pack is an icky name to apply to such a smooth trio of green gunny TUF’d and burgundy accented hightops. Recent drops suggested Supra was moving toward celebrating their riders with new release packs instead of the color themes that dominated the summer months, but here’s a new trio from the crown brand that suggests either option is just a release announcement away. The Supra Reed Pack doesn’t seem to be a shoutout to the woodwind family of instruments, but then again, it doesn’t really resemble papyrus or any other reed, for that matter. But just as was the case with the recent ‘Stealth Pack’, this thematic vagueness doesn’t detract from the rich burgundy satin TUF design applied to the Supra Skytop and Thunders in both Low and High. The first Supra release in quite some time not immediately linked to any particular pack is also one fo the year’s most impressive crown brand drops. The latest Supra Skytop from the Royal Collection looks the part of its ‘Smoke’ color/theme thanks to a unique acid-wash crushed suede upper paired with black laces and soles. They fade from lighter to darker gray front to back but because of the process each pair will be slightly different, and you can’t help but imagine that these could be sick with any number of different options via a huge range of vivid lace swaps. Supra issued a three shoe pack?! Alert the media! Oh wait, that’s us, and we have indeed noticed a sharp increase in the tendency for the crown brand to drop three new kicks at the same time, all with the same construction and colors. The latest is unique for its use of a waxed twill material on the upper of three black models, the Supra Skytop, Society Mid and Wrap all employing white soles and tongue branding for the simplest of contrasts. These are infinitely versatile and in stores now at Supra retailers including their own e-store.

Supra has borrowed plenty of ideas from Nike, from the Air Jordan-inspired colorways to the Skytop II’s AJVI-aping, and most recently with the release of a series of three-shoe packs unified around a central design theme. The latest also happens to be borrowed from Nike by way of South Beach, the Supra MIA Pack applying teal and pink accents to the black leather bodies of the Supra Skytop, Skylow and Society. Supra has been such a high proportion of packs to unnamed releases of late that it’s probably another line entirely, but is it also possible that Supra renamed their spring-launched Royal collection already? The Supra Estate collection for fall offers a similarly regal take on three of the crown brand’s biggest hits, but unlike many of their other looks this summer, each of this trio carries its own colorway. Start with the Supra Skytop ‘MIA’, a black full grain leather model with South Beach-style accents, then move to the insane Society Mid in black TUF with a white grid overlay and finish out the set with a red canvas Cuttler that’s reminiscent of their ‘Heartbreaker’ Skytops from a while back.
