Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Slip-On 59 LX

taka hayashi vans vault slip on x 59 0 Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Slip On 59 LX

It seems like Taka Hayashi has pretty much free range with Vans models at this point given how many different shoes he’s worked with over the years. And yet, for this new collection he actually keeps things pretty restrained in terms of silhouettes used. There’s just the Vans Slip-On, more specifically the Vans Vault Slip-On 59 LX, that borrows some South West style native patterns. The Hayashi stamp on them means they’ll run you a bit more than your standard Slip-Ons – each cost $150. Continue reading to see the two new Vans in question and watch for them to launch in August at spots like the Vans DQM General (New York and Boston), Blends, Barneys, Bodega, Bows & Arrows, Conveyor, Fice, Hot Rod, Kicks/HI, Nice Kicks, Palace 5ive, Proper, Shoe Gallery and Sole Classics.

As it turns out, there are even more pairs from the Taka Hayashi x Vans Vault Spring 2014 collection than initially assumed. The Vans Sk8-His from Mr. Hayashi for the Spring have suddenly doubled in numbers at the reveal of these monkey-print pairs. The two shown here sort of break away from the native-looking patterns of the rest of the set with a more cartoony approach to the graphics. Continue reading to see the other of these upcoming slick collab Vans Vault releases and watch for them at premium retailers this March for $70.

There’s no reason to think the partnership between Japanese born designer Taka Hayashi and California’s Off the Wall skate shoe brand Vans would end any time soon.  These two have successfully partnered on Vans Vault sneakers with each season for so long now, he’s moving into that rarefied category with Hiroshi Fujiwara, John Varvatos, Jeremy Scott and Yohji Yamamoto who’ve been at it with a single brand for upwards of a decade or more.  All of these guys are famous for their own takes on established favorites, and Taka exhibits just that appeal with the new slightly cap-toed Vans Vault Sk8-Mid, another set of remixes on the Sk8 with his Court Hi and Lo, and the totally TH-original Derby 2 gets covered in the vintage palm leaf print.  This spring collection should be at select Vans Vault retailers shortly; which pair do you like best?

Taka Hayashi’s Vans creations have never been afraid of shedding the typical skate sneaker look associated with the brand. Proving that once more is the new TH 008 LX model from the Vans Vault sub-line that celebrated its tenth birthday back in the summer. As you can see, these TH creations look about as far from a prototypical Vans creation as possible what with the Vibram-looking sole on bottom and the nubuck upper that’s got some brogue style perforations to it. Continue reading to get a look at the two new pairs and watch for them to release at your local Vans spot soon..

The partnership between Vans and Taka Hayashi is one that has endured nearly as long as the Vault collection that’s celebrating its 10th anniversary.  TH’s latest drop includes three colorways one two of Off the Wall’s most popular higher cut silhouettes, starting with the reworked Sk8-Hi dubbed the Taka Hayashi x Vans TH Court Hi LX.  Two TH Court Hi reimagine the Sk8-Hi as a Chuck Taylor competitor in the athletic market, while the TH Half Cab LX takes a more straightforward approach to its classic lines, albeit with some eye-catching nature prints added.  Check out all three in more photos below, then grab yours from Vault retailers like Wish.
