The UNC Tar Heels have apparently been outfitted with two separate, special colorways of the Jordan CP3.VI to match with their uniforms. Pictured here is the first look at the away pair, one which again sports a healthy dosage of elephant print to plant them firmly in the Jordan Brand lineage. Aside from that the sneakers see the university blue palette turned down quite a bit in favor of some more navy sectioning. Get a better look after the jump and let us know which UNC player exclusive pair of the Jordan CP3.VI pair you prefer.

Air Jordan XIV – UNC Tar Heels PE

July 22nd, 2012 by | 3 comments

air jordan 14 unc pe summary Air Jordan XIV UNC Tar Heels PE

The UNC Tar Heels’ colors will forever be wrapped up in the Michael Jordan legacy, with no small number of Air Jordan models borrowing the blue and white pairing. When the Air Jordan XIV made its original retail run there was one such pair, albeit a low version rather than the standard silhoutte. The only folks who did get to enjoy them in true mid form were players on the UNC b-ball squad that year, with this Air Jordan XIV apparently being handed out as one of the perks that comes with playing for MJ’s alma mater (and later popping up at random retail spots like Eastbay). The pair also shifts the colors a little bit, swapping out the Columbia blue of the low’s for the obviously more appropriate Carolina blue. Click through to check out the rare Air Jordan XIV in white/black-Carolina blue and bid on this pair now from k1ckscr3w19 on eBay.

unc georgetown debuts air jordan 2012 pes NCAA Feet: UNC & Georgetown Debut The Air Jordan 2012

College basketball offered up some premium entertainment last night as the UNC Tar Heels squared off against the big-time rival Duke Blue Devils and Big East heavyweights Syracuse and Georgetown got down and dirty in Western NY. Not much more can be said about the history behind these two match-ups; Duke and UNC have been trading blows for decades, while ‘Cuse and G-Town – without question one of the biggest rivalries in college sports – threw down in what is likely to be their last bout in the Carrier Dome, so it’s clear why Jordan Brand selected this great night to debut the all-new Air Jordan 2012. The UNC Tar Heels sported PE colorways of the Air Jordan 2012 ‘University Blue’, while Georgetown spiced things up by throwing some Volt into the mix by way of the ‘Wolf Grey’ joints. We’ve got some nice in-game action shots for you below so take a look and stick with Sneaker News for more NCAA Feet action as we near the tournament! via Yahoo

One of the colorways that caught our eye during the Jordan CP3.V Launch Event in Los Angeles was this ‘Coaches Vs. Cancer’ PE colorway that compelled us to ‘Think Pink’. The purpose of these colorways is to promote Breast Cancer Awareness, and the UNC Tar Heels certainly caught the nation’s attention when a few players wore the Jordan CP3.V ‘Coaches Vs. Cancer’ during their game against Georgia Tech. We even see the special heartfelt message that Kendall Marshall left for his mother in this close-up of the shoe. We’ve got more in-game action shots of the Jordan CP3.V so check ‘em out and let us know what you think. via Yahoo!.

jb nike bball carrier classic collection Jordan Brand/Nike Basketball Carrier Classic Collection

Earlier today, Sneaker News showed you the Air Jordan 8.0 and Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Supreme from the Carrier Classic Pack – a set of sneakers that will be worn by the players of the UNC Tar Heels and Michigan State Spartans during Friday evening’s season opener. Alongside the two sneakers is the Carrier Classic Collection by Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball; both team jerseys feature the digital camouflage detailing with special team-specific graphics on the rear side of the jersey. Both jerseys are made with recycled polyester; for a point of reference, each full jersey uses thirty-six plastic bottles. The Carrier Classic jerseys are just a precursor to a lengthy plan set by Nike and Jordan Brand; in 2011, they expect to double its usage of recycled polyester, diverting more than 440 million plastic bottles from waste landfills. In addition to the Fall 2011 NCAA uniforms, the Spring 2012 Platinum Elite uniforms will continue usage of recycled materials, with its Elite short being made entirely of plastic bottles. Continue reading for a detailed look at the Carrier Classic uniforms and kicks and be sure to tune into the game tomorrow at 7:00 PM EST.
