Vans continues to lead the way with novel print patterns as we move into 2013, including a new range of designs that falls somewhere in between traditional floral prints and concealment patterns. The Vans California Floral Camo pack adds an earthy leaf array to the olive uppers of the Vans Chukka Boot and Authentic, a couple of models that also just released in the ‘Aloha’ or ‘Hula Camo’ renditions we’d previewed a couple of times. Let us know which is better after you’ve seen more of these pairs below, then grab yours at select retailers including straight from Vans.

The skateboarding world has come full circle with the popularity of Nike SB’s Stefan Janoski signatures and Vans’ various del Barcos. The recent upscale turn isn’t just the byproduct of the crucible effect of the global financial meltdown — it represents a return to form that captures the original essence of what we’ve come to know from skate sneakers. The Vans Authentic is the original, a ‘deck’ shoe in every sense o the word whose leather-piped burgundy and navy suede makeups look great with brass eyelets and are available from their DQM-partnered NYC flaghip, The General.

Vans is probably the all-time leader when it comes to eye-catching patterns put to use on sneaker silhouettes, so for a print as common as leopard rosettes, you know they’ve already issued several variations. One of this year’s standouts was a rainbow-backed Authentic, and here we see it can still perform admirably well with the basic nature look. In fact, these are quite similar to a pair that released alongside a grey base this summer (only significant difference being the eyelet color), but coming up for spring, they’ll be joined by the Vans Era and Old Skool, all with black trim and depicted further after the jump below.

Suede is one of those materials added to a sneaker to give it some balance or tone things down, as the soft texture and depth of tone provides an earthy grounding influence. But that’s exactly the opposite of what’s going on here on the latest Vans Authentic releases, as black and champagne suedes are given a shimmer treatment that makes them burst with a metallic sheen under the right light. It’s a novel way to add some intrigue to simple golden and black plimsolls, and you can see both of them in more photos below before buying at Off the Wall retailers like DavidZ.

The Vans California Collection has issued Hiker Packs for the Mid Skool 77 (two, in fact) and Sk8-Hi (as well as a ‘Camper’ set for the latter) over the past couple years, and this time around it’s a lowtop that’s called to conquer the mountain. The Vans California Authentic ‘Hiker’ CA switches from asphalt to rocks in their natural form with ribbed bumpers on the toe and heel (not seen on the earlier ‘Hiker’ drops) to convey a rugged feel like you might expect from a trail boot. The corded laces offer a twist on the offroad look we’ve seen Off the Wall utilize quite a bit of late, and you can see how they integrate into olive, black and wine suede makeups after the jump below. These are in stock now at Vans California retailers, so where do they rank on your holiday shopping list?

It arrives on store shelves these days with all manner of prefixes and suffixes, special materials and eye-catching patterns, but all of that is possible because the Vans Authentic is at its heart such a simple design. This classic plimsoll was the Van Doren brothers’ original Waffle Sole release, a lowtop deck shoe whose familiar lines have inspired a thousand plimsolls since its 1966 debut. This latest effort goes with the monotone look that’s more common in canvas than the above pictured peacoat navy suede, and adds a premium touch via leather piping. If you’re liking what you see, you can find this colorway now at retailers like Premier.

Vans set the tone for their departure from familiar animal prints last September when they collaborated with Supreme on the playful ‘Flies’ Pack, and now they’ve managed to blend that whimsical interpretation with the traditional menswear thread that’s been running through their catalog for some time now. The Vans California Authentic 59 ‘Birds’ brings together a couple of highly detailed canvas prints (which look considerably more washed out than in the now obviously filtered preview images) borrowed from the Mad Men era. These just dropped at select retailers including New York’s Kith and you can see more images after the jump.
