Vans continues to find new twists on traditional styles and this latest look is probably the most progressive of the designs that’d fall into that class. The Vans California Carillo is an asymmetrical take on the lowtop chukka style Off the Wall has so thoroughly mastered, its offset medial wall unlike any we’ve seen during the recent and ongoing lifestyle sneaker renaissance. The Vans California line brings us familiar silhouettes and new designs, all done in styles that echo the Pacific’s chillwaves. Their latest new release appears to be another new variation on the 106 lowtop chukka at first glance, but you’re likely to end up turning back for another look once you figure out something’s totally unique about the Vans California Carillo. Appearing just as any of Off the Wall’s other chukkas from the lateral side, their medial eyestay keeps on going down through the toe, connecting to a leather foxing rand that gives these an all at once asymmetrical and elegant look.
